I walked into the school with Ricky by my side, and the rest of the quads beside Ricky.

"Today, I feel everything's going to change." Ricky said.

"A good change right?" I ask.

"Yeah. Something that impacts us in a good way." He answered.

The bell rang, and we headed to class.

It wasn't the fact that we'd all gotten good grades on our assignments, nor was it that the cafeteria staff was giving out free cookies that day. It was something far more serious.

-----

I had realized that Ann and Tom were at the adoption center today. I couldn't figure out what it was until Mrs.Cooper told me to pack my bags. I had realized that my best friend was going to be my brother. Not by blood, but by adoption.

I couldn't get the thought of how Ricky would react, out of my head. We were in a really good position until today. Everything had changed with the quick signature, on an adoption paper, with a pen. And inerasable pen where after you sign, it's done.

My bags were packed with all my clothes, my hair products, and brushes, my microscope, my teddy bear, and last but not least, the prized picture of Ricky and I when we were only 5 years old, at the fair. We had ridden all of the kiddie rides, (including the bumper cars and the ferris wheel) and even dared to go on the Infinitycoaster, a rollercoaster in the shape of and infinity sign, taking you upside down, and side to side, and all that. But the one special thing about that picture, is because that was the one day that we weren't focusing on academics. We were focusing on fun.

"Gillianna! Get down here!" Mrs.Cooper snapped.

"Coming!" I called, zipping up my bag, before walking downstairs.

Tom and Anne helped me and all my bags to the car.

Today was going to be a long day.

-------

I walk into the house, to find Ricky, Dicky, Nicky, and Dawn on the couch.

"Oh, hey, Gillianna." Dawn says, waving me off.

"Don't just wave off your sister like that." Anne, or should I say mom, says.

"Sister?" Ricky questioned.

"Yeah. We adopted her today." Tom said.

"What?" Dawn asked.

"I'm your sister now." I said, sighing.

Ricky ran upstairs. Something told me that he hated this. That he liked it better when we were just friends. And, I agree. I never wanted to be a Harper. I wanted to stay myself as Gillianna Musket.

Anne led me to the space that that's prepared for me, as my room. I unzip my bag, only to see the picture again. I quickly place it on my bed, and start putting my clothes in the closet.

By the time dinner is ready, my room looks simply like an almost empty room. The room is completely empty except for my bed.
