Chapter 5
Lexi's POV
I was sitting at my desk, working on the last problem on my homework, when I heard tapping at my window. Donnie was standing at my window, with a serious face. I let him in and the first thing he said was,"Where's Leo? He came back to the lair, he looked sad, then he just left. I thought he might be here." I shrugged,"Beats me. He isn't here." I mumbled as I sat on my bed.
"What's up with him? Do you know?" "Yeah. I had a 'run in' with a bully of mine and he found out my 'little secret', but it won't be so little by tomorrow." He looked at me like he was saying,'You can trust me.' I sighed and told him flat out,"I cut. Ever since I was in the 6th grade. No one ever knew, except Tanya. I never told her, but she found out somehow. I didn't tell him because I didn't want him to worry or for it to be a burden on him. It's my choice and that is how I deal with stress and anxiety." I started to cry, then Leo jumped through the open window, and he looked as if he had been crying for at least an hour or so.
"Leo." Is all I could whisper. I looked over my shoulder and saw Donnie was gone. It was just Leo and me. "Listen, Leo I'm sor-" He cut me off by whispering,"I'm not mad, just confused. I'm just wondering, why?" The look in his eyes was a mix of hurt and confusion. I sighed then I told him,"The bullies. It's my fault for not being normal and not fitting in, and this was my last resort." "Y-You could have told me!" He yelled. "Do you know, how hard it is, to tell your best friend since they were 5, that you cut!? It's isn't as easy as it sounds!" I yelled back. He calmed down and said,"The reason I fell for you is because you are a challenge. You try to do the impossible. And that is to be perfect. No one is perfect, and you try SO hard to be perfect, but it isn't possible. You're stressed because you over-work to try everything to be like the others."
