**Still Tessa's POV**
The next day.....
"Morning, Sleepyhead." Jacob greets me as I wake up.
"Hi." I acknowledge him tiredly.
"Did you sleep alright?"
"Yep."
"How're your bruises doing?"
"They still hurt a little bit, but it's nothing I haven't dealt with before."
"You really need to tell someone else about this, Tess. You can't just sit around and let him do this to you anymore." He tells me.
"Yeah, I know, Jake." I say.
He would've said something else, but my phone starts buzzing. It's just Jennifer texting me, but it seems urgent.
Jennifer: Did you hear?
Me: Hear what?
Jennifer: The news about 'you know who'.
Me: I'm sorry. Who are we talking about here?
Jennifer: Remember the ass of a boyfriend that left a while ago?
Me: Why do we have to talk about him for?
Jennifer: Because I've got some news on him for you.
Me: What makes you think I want to talk about him?
Jennifer: Maybe because of what he posted on Facebook?
Me: Just get to the point already.
Jennifer: Well I hate to break it to ya, but Mason's moving back into town next month.
Me: Then I'll ignore him. I've got a new boyfriend now anyway, so what difference should it make?
Jennifer: I don't know, but something tells me that the guy really loved you.
Me: Ok, whatever. I'll just deal with him when he comes. No biggie.
Jennifer: Ha, good luck with that.
Me: Gee, thanks.
Jennifer: You're welcome!
When I put my phone away, I don't realise that Jacob has left the room. Oh well. I get changed and head downstairs to grab some breakfast.
"So who were you talking to?" Jacob asks me.
"Jen." I answer.
"What did she want to talk about?"
"About...Mason."
"Why'd she want to talk about that a**hole for?"
"Jen told me that Mason's moving back into town next month."
"Well that's just great." He says sourly.
"You got that right." I reply.
"What are you gonna do?"
"Ignore him."
"Okay, we both know that that's not gonna work."
"True. He's very persistent."
My phone starts ringing again. This time around though, I'm afraid to pick it up.
"Tessa? Who is it?" Jacob asks.
"My dad." I say in a small voice.
"Are you gonna pick it up?"
"I guess I have to. He'll kill me if I don't."
"Did you want me to stay with you while you talk?"
"I don't mind."
Jacob sits at the kitchen bench while I answer my phone.
"Tessa Hathaway, where are you?" My dad demands.
"I was staying at a friend's house." I tell him.
"I know that. I was the one that kicked you out, after all. Now why aren't you home yet?"
"I was about to have breakfast."
"I don't care! Just come home right now."
"Yes, Dad."
And with that, he hangs up on me.
"I need to go." I say to Jacob as I head upstairs to grab my things.
"Wait, what? You haven't even eaten yet!" He calls after me as he then follows me upstairs.
"He doesn't care, Jake!"
"He can't control you like this, Tessa. No one can. You can't go on living like this."
"Well what else am I supposed to do?"
"Tell someone who'll help you. Call your mum or something. I'm sure that she loves you enough to come and help you."
"She can't help me unless I move in with her and Charlie. I don't want to move away from you or any of my other friends." I tell him as I shove my things back into my bag.
"It doesn't matter, as long as you're safe." He replies.
"Look, Jake. I'm sorry, but I really have to go now."
"Okay. Just be careful around him."
"Can't make any promises."
"Come on. Did you want a ride back?"
"Yes please." I say.
One month later.....
I haven't been sleeping well ever since I'd heard about Mason's moving back. That douche bag isn't making things any easier by doing a whole damn countdown on Facebook. Doesn't he have a life? Oh yeah, that's right...he doesn't. He better leave me alone. I'm not in the mood for anyone's crap these days. My dad was still a problem though, but I'm coping, so it's okay I guess. I don't care much for my whole dad thing anyway, I'm just focused on Mason's arrival. Next thing I know, there's people on Facebook saying that there's a huge party at Leo's place when Mason gets back.
Leo is Mason's brother who hadn't moved away for the scholarship program thing. Partly because he didn't want to leave his girlfriend, Jennifer. Yeah. My best friend Jennifer. They are madly in love and I'm happy that they were happy together. My best friend and my ex boyfriend's brother. Okay, I really need to stop thinking about him.
There's school today and I practically run out of the house to avoid my dad. Jacob comes and picks me up as per the usual and all is well. At least, until we get to school it was.
There he is. Mason.
~~ Okay...anyone else dreading the thought of Mason coming back home from his scholarship program thingy? No? Oh well. We'll just have to see how things play out in the next chapter. It should be coming out soon. Sorry about the wait for this chapter, though. I was focused on my other books and this one was giving me a hard time as I didn't know how to finish the chapter. But the next one should be out in a matter of days or something...hopefully.
Be sure to comment your thoughts and vote to show your love!!! ~~
