Why am I so afraid?
5:47 PM
A long and deep sigh escapes the young Dunphy's mouth. Standing in front of the mirror in his room, wearing only his boxer shorts, Luke Dunphy is staring obliviously at his own body. Clothes spread all around him; on the floor, in his bed, hanging half out of his window.
Half an hour ago Luke promised himself to never make fun of his sisters again when they can't decide what to wear on a date. Why is this so hard?
Go all dressed up? Casual? Something in between?Even though Luke realizes it's not technically a date and that they won't be able to be especially affectionate with each other around all their family members. It's the first time they're gonna see each other since becoming... More than friends... or whatever they are now.
Luke can't wait to see him.
"What's Manny's favorite color again?" Luke mumbles to himself, as he opens his closet again and takes another look at his wardrobe. It's not impressive by any means; Worn out logo t-shirts, button-downs, most of which he has grown out of. Jeans with countless holes and tears in them. And not because it's fashionable and he bought them like that, but because he constantly does dumb and dangerous things in them.
Luke picks two things that he thinks go well together, kind of... A red button-down that still fits him and dark brown pants that, to Luke's surprise, have only one little tear in them.
He holds the items next his body and nods semi-satisfied before looking down.I guess I should change my underwear too... Luke thinks, looking at the dinosaur-print covered yellow boxers that he hasn't washed in a couple of days... or weeks... maybe.
Luke quickly looks around his closet door and double-checks to see if his door is really closed.
Oddly enough, changing his underwear has become quite a hassle for the thoughtless young Dunphy. There is a lock on his door, something his mom installed after Luke got caught a few too many times 'having fun by himself' by several inhabitants of the Dunphy house.
Problem is, it makes a very loud noise. So every time that clicking noise would ring through the house, every Dunphy would know what young Luke was up to. So that wasn't exactly an option.
The best option was for him to change in the bathroom after taking a shower.
If he'd only remember to take a clean pair with him that is... To Luke's misfortune, however, he is the most forgetful boy to ever walk the planet. So most of the time the only option for him is to change in his room without locking the door and silently pray that nobody is gonna walk in on him.The paranoid young Dunphy closes his curtain, making sure not even a centimeter of his naked body could be seen through the small window. And checks the door once again to make sure it's really closed. Standing between his closet door, he checks one more time to see that everything is closed. "Okay..." Luke whispers confidently to himself before pulling down his underwear with the speed of light, tossing them on his 'laundry chair' and pulling open the underwear drawer at the bottom of his closet.
"Damnit Luke!" The irresponsible teenager angrily shouts at himself. To Luke's horror, there's no underwear to be found in his drawer. He forgot to do his laundry... Again...
The flustered boy quickly runs to his laundry chair to pick out a pair of underwear that looks the cleanest right before one of his worst nightmares is about to come true..."Hey, can I borrow your charger?" An unknowing Haley casually asks, walking into her little brother's room with the energy-depleted phone in her hand.
"Oh Fuck!' The butt-naked boy whispers. Shock in his voice and horror in his mind. He can barely get the word out of his trembling mouth as he sees Haley's horrified eyes staring at his nude profile.
Time seems to slow down as Haley's phone drops out of her hand, seemingly in slow motion.
