CLARKE POV:
I couldn't stop thinking about Lexa throughout my entire lecture, but I knew the content anyways. I kept thinking about how I intended to ask out Lexa, after Octavia had insisted I did, knowing what was going on between us. Lexa and I were stuck in that area between friends and something more. I wasnt going to call it love at first sight, but from the very beginning there was something different about her- and Octavia and Raven had realised this. But instead of asking her out, we had ended up finally talking about our pasts, something we had been waiting to do since day one. I wasn't sure why it happened then, maybe it was the feeling of her hands in mine and my head on her chest, memorising her heartbeat, the fact that it was early and I was too tired to overthink- or both- but I was glad it had happened. And I was also glad I had asked to talk later on in the day.
Truth be told, I wasn't entirely sure what I was going to say yet, but as my fingers traced the area where Lexa's lips had pressed against my cheek, I knew I didn't just want to be her friend. Because friends don't look at each other the way we do. Friends don't feel a spark of electricity at each others touch. Just friends weren't words I'd use to describe what was going on between Lexa Woods and I.
The professor was going on about God knows what when I saw my phone light up beside my notebook on the small desk in front of me. I was quite near the back, looking down on most of the class and the professor, so I discreetly picked it up, smiling to see it was a message from Lexa.

I honestly could not care less about about strange american laws in this moment...I miss you :(
My heart leapt at the message, and knowing Lexa, she had probably spent ten minutes trying to decide whether or not to add on that last bit- but I was glad she had.
TO: LEXA WOODS FROM: CLARKE
I stopped paying attention a while ago...I can't wait to see you later.
TO: CLARKE FROM: LEXA WOODS
Speaking of- where should I meet you?
TO: LEXA WOODS FROM: CLARKE
We could go grab some early dinner? That diner was nice. I get the feeling you know it better than I do though. Thoughts?
TO: CLARKE FROM: LEXA WOODS
Was lowkey hoping you would say that. And yes, as a former employee- I would recommend Tondc diner. Even though it's technically in Polis....never understood that. Apparently the original owner was from Tondc. Anyway, meet you there at 4:30?
TO: LEXA WOODS FROM: CLARKE
Sounds perfect.
FROM: LEXA WOODS
It's a date :)
I'm pretty sure that text is the moment my heart stopped beating for a reason that I wasn't going to learn in Med school. My thumbs lingering over the key board, but receiving another text before I could type another word.
