The Six Bloods

Chapter 2

While stepping over the corpse of the hell hound, I sheathe my sword. I scan the sky and study it for a moment, looking at where the sun is now. Letting out a relieved sigh, I continue my journey up the dirt path to where my destination is.

"I have about four hours until dusk, I have plenty of time to get there," I say, relaxing a bit. The Kingdoms entrance closes at sundown, and if I don't make it there in time I'd have to camp out until morning which might make me late for sign-ups. I could already see the kingdoms walls from here, and I'm guessing it'll only take an hour or two to get there depending on if I walk or run. But I see no reasoning hurry, so I slow my walking pace a bit, take an apple out of my pack. I bite into it , savor ing the juicy flavor, but then suddenly my relaxation came halt when suddenly I heard a scream of a women from farther up the path. On instinct I dropped my apple and sprinted up the path to where I heard the scream. Adrenaline kicked in and I was getting ready for a fight. In the distance I could make out what was happening. A women was kicking and struggling against two men, who to the looks of it were bandits. When I got close enough I stopped and unsheathed my sword and raised it high. The women looked around my age, she had silky brown hair, and from what I could tell she was pretty

"I suggest you step away from the girl," I call out, breathing in and out as calmly as possible. They took their hands off of her, and looked in my direction, and because of how enhanced my eyesight was, I saw the expressions on their faces. They were smirking at me as I started to walk closer to them. One was really data due had a giant mole under his right eye, and the other was huge and ripped with muscles upon muscles. The more masculine one was the one to speak first.

"What would you ever do? Hurt us? Ha ... Just move along," he laughed, turning away from me and back at the girl.

"You were warned," I whispered and dash over there, with my sword pointed down at the ground. In seconds he turned around to see me right in front of him, his eyes grew wide as I slashed my blade across his torso. His blood splattered on the ground and on my face as he doubled back, and his friend looked dumbfounded. The muscular mans eyes were filled with fear as blood poured out of his wound, and without hesitation I grabbed his hair, and then stabbed him right through the neck. I pulled my blade out of his neck, and watched his body collapse to the ground. His fat friend started back away from the girl, and he grabbed her then place a dagger to her throat. He was breathing heavy, and it was obvious that he was scared out of his mind. The girl looked like she was trying her best to stay calm, and she tried not to struggle.

"I'll kill her! I sw-swear I will! Take one step closer and I will!" He yelled, freaking out.

"If you kill her doesn't mean that you aren't going to get killed? But if you run now, you have a better chance of living," I say, with a smile on my face. He made the smart decision by dropping the dagger and running away.

"I don't even know how to begin to thank you.."

"You don't have to do anything it was nothing, but are you hurt?" I asked, flicking the blood off my blade and then placing it back into its sheath.

"No, but thank you for your concern... What are you doing?" She asked, watching me drag the corpse off the path behind a tree. Satisfied that the body was hid well enough from view, I walked back on to the dirt path. I kick the dirt over the blood stains in the ground to hide the fact a killing took place here.

"People would freak out if they suddenly saw a dead body in the middle of the road, so it's a good idea to hide it."

"Oh..."

"Why were you outside the kingdoms walls?" I asked, now giving her my full attention. As soon as I asked that, it was if I reminded her of something. She scanned the ground around us then spotted a basket full of raspberries that has been tipped over. She picked it up, and smiled at them them fondly.

"I was gathering berries near here that are off the path, want to try a couple?" She offered, and I accepted her offer and had like ten.

"What's your name?" I asked, popping the last one into my mouth.

"Alexandra, and yourself?"

"Riel, are you heading back to the kingdom walls now?" I asked. She nodded, and smiled.

"Would you like to walk with me back there?" Alexandra asked. I shrugged and stretched my arms.

"Sure, and anyways I need to make sure you don't get kidnapped again." I joked.

"Hey!" She said, defensively. I laughed and then we were on our way.
