Star's goodbye

"Do you have everything?"
"Yes Marco."
"What about your red belt?"
"I don't take karate Marco, that's you."
"Right, right right. What about socks? Have you packed an extra pair incase you step in something?"
"Why would I be wearing just socks with no shoes?"
"I don't know what goes on in Mewni. What about..."
"Marco. Stop worrying. I've got everything, and if I don't it gives me an excuse to visit you."
Marco looked blank.
"Are you sure you have..."
"Yep."
"What about?"
"Yep."
"Don't forget..."
"I've got it. Sorry I can't be here for Christmas, but so you don't get bored I invited someone to spend the holidays with you!"
"What do you mean invited someone?!..."
"Star." Angie knocked on the door and stepped into her room. "Your father is here to pick you up. Have you got everything you need sweetie?"
"Yes Mrs Diaz." Star walked towards the door. "Bye Marco. I'll mirror you when I get home."
Marco ran over to her and hugged her, then he put his arm around her shoulders and walked down the stairs with her.
As soon as River saw Marco with his arm around Star he came over and slapped his hand off. Shouting "NO!" At the top of his lungs.
"Okay. It's nice to see you too River. I mean, your majesty."
"Hey Dad. Why do you look so mad?" Star whispered.
River cleared his throat. "Excuse me a minute Diaz', I need to have a word with my daughter." He grabbed Star by her shoulder and pulled her into the other room.
"What is it Dad? Don't tell me this is an excuse to spend more time away from Grandma."
"Star? What do you think you're doing with that boy?"
"Marco?"
"You're not allowed to date until you're 18."
"We're just friends."
"Uh huh?"
"Seriously, just friends."
"I've seen the way you act around each other, he's made you soft."
"He has not made me go soft!"
"When did you last fight a monster?"
"A few months ago, with Marco and my Ex-boyfriend Tom."
"Ex-what?"
"Nothing."
"Well as long as it was nothing because I could've sworn you said, boyfriend and you know you're not allowed to date."
"It was nothing. I'm sure."
"Okay. I believe you, but I'm keeping an eye on you. Now, say your farewells and let's get going. I don't want to upset my mother-in-law. She scares me a bit."
Star said goodbye to Marco in a hurried hug and Marco could've sworn he saw her hold back a tear. Then again he had to keep telling himself that it was only 14 days until she was back. Something crossed his mind though, she said she'd invited someone, and she knew a lot of people. For all he knew Floating Princess Pony Head could turn up at this doorstep at any given moment.
