Chapter 4
The closet door opened. I was petrified, I just couldn't move. At least a dozen soldiers stormed inside. It refreshed the awful events that had occured only one night ago. This time the soldiers didn't grab me, or start destroying the room that I was in.
They simply stood by the door in a perfectly straight line. One soldier spoke up and said, "Your highness, you are invited to the royal dinner tonight." There was the your highness again. The soldier continued, "Your ladies will come soon." the soldiers turned to leave.
"Wait!" I called. Three men turned. "How did you come through my closet?" I was really confused.
"You will soon find that there are things far more mysterious than doors that lead to different places in this castle." A tall guard said. With that, they turned and shut the "closet" door, leaving me confused.
The soldier had said that my ladies would be here soon. I assumed that my ladies were probably like servants in this place.
I vowed that I wouldn't treat them like servants. I would treat them like friends. Two seconds later my new "friends" walked through the door.
My three ladies entered the room while gossiping about some guy.
One was tall with auburn hair and green eyes. Another girl had chocolate brown hair, and gorgeous blue eyes. The last girl had kind of blonde hair, and her eyes were hazel.
They all seemed very pretty, and well dressed for servants. I wondered what their personalities were like
"Oh, my gosh have you seen that new guard Jeff?" The tall blonde one said.
"I don't have eyes for anyone but my Henry." The brunette siad dreamily. She stared into space and smiled.
"Henry, Henry, Henry. Is that all you can talk about?" The red-head had an attitude.
The blonde one turned to the red-head. "No one asked for your opinion Ab-"
"Excuse me. Um...I'm Elizabeth." They turned to me, and their cheeks heated.
"So sorry your grace." Said the brunette, "It won't happen again." I hadn't meant to sound rude or commanding when I had interrupted them. I felt bad.
"No, it's fine. I just wanted to know your names. Then you can go back to your conversation." I tried to look really sincere. They looked relieved.
The red-head spoke up. "I'm Amelia, I'll be taking care of all of your needs. Refreshments, food, or any other services." Amelia seemed really formal now. It was kind of strange how she could switch her personality so quickly.
The brunette put a hand on her hip, "I'm Jennifer, and I will be doing all of your hair, and your makeup. But let's get something straight. I am not going to be treated like a piece of dirt, okay? I used to do the princess's hair, and she never appreciated me. You better not be like that with me, or else I won't have a problem with letting you get eliminated from The Choosing." Jennifer had an attidude. I made a mental not of that.
The blonde girl stepped towards me and outstretched her hand. I shook it and she smiled. "My name's Isabelle, but you can call me Izzy. I'll design and sew all of your dresses, and help you dress perfectly for The Choosing!" Izzy must have designed all those dresses in the closet.
"What's The Chossing?" I asked. Jennifer snorted.
"The Choosing is the compettion that you're in right now." Amelia said. "Prince Alexander needs a bride, and you have been chosen as a contender to be his wife, and the future princess."
"Then why are people calling me Your Highness now? I'm not acually a princess." I said.
"Since you are part of The Choosing, you instantly become a princess until you are eliminated from the contest." Isabelle said. I nodded, and Isabelle continued, "The Choosing has been going on forever but this year something weird happened. The village that you're from never sent any forms to us to enter girls in The Choosing. So the queen got mad. She took all of the eligible girls from your village to the palace, but we already had three girls from the Sav- The outlying regions. So we're going to have a mini competition to send thirteen girls back to your village. Then the real contest can start." Isabelle really knew her stuff.
"Wow" I said. "So I'm competing to marry the prince, and one day become queen."
"Exactly." Amelia said.
Isabelle squealed, "Okay, lets get you in a dress!"
