Riley

Guess what day it is today?! It's Christmas! I'm so excited. My grandparents are coming over. I haven't seen them for months.

"Baby, could you give Jazzy a bath while I'm helping my mom with dinner?" I asked Justin.

"Of course. Jazzy, c'mon to the bathroom." He said.

Jazzy looked at Justin and shook her head no.

"No bath!" she yelled before running out of the room.

"Jazzy, come back! You can't run away from your daddy." Justin yelled, running behind her.

I laughed.

"And you need that bath!" I heard him yell.

I got up from my bed and walked down the stairs to the kitchen trying to avoid Justin who was chasing Jazzy.

"Hi mom. Need any help?" I asked her.

She looked at me in kind of shock.

"Since when are you willing to help?" She asked.

"Since I have to take care of my little girl." I replied with a smile.

"I find it amazing how much you care about her." My mom told me while I was cutting some vegetables.

My mom and I just chatted about some things while I helped her cooking. I haven't had conversations like this one with my mom in ages. I guess Jazzy and Justin really changed me. I barely shared things with my mom and now I tell her things I would have never told her if I didn't meet Justin. I'm them so thankful and I love them so much.

"Jazzy, come back!" I yelled as I ran after her.

She has to take a bath, but she obviously doesn't want to. Her laughter fills the air as she ran up the stairs.

"Gotcha." I said, picking her up.

"Daddy no! I don't like the bath." She pouted as I walked into the bathroom.

"I know baby girl, but you have to. Mommy won't be happy if you didn't go in bath. You don't want mommy mad, do you?"

She shook her head.

"Alright then."

"Jazzy, look what you did. I'm all wet now." I complained.

Jazzy just splashed water on me. And she thinks it's funny, because she can't stop laughing. Now I need to change my shirt.

"Riley!" I yelled.

A minute later she walked in and she burst out laughing when she saw me.

"Yeah laugh." I said, rolling my eyes.

"What happened to you?" She asked, trying to calm down.

"Jazzy happened. Can you dry her while I'm changing clothes?"

"Sure." She nodded her head.

"Jazzy, behave." I said before walking out.

I changed clothes and went downstairs. Riley's mom was still cooking and her dad was watching something on tv.

It's Christmas eve tonight and on days like these I miss my parents so much. My dad and I would help my mom with dinner. We would share memories with each other. We would just sit down and listen to stories my mom told. Sometimes my friends would come over in the morning and we would just make fun. I miss those times. If my parenst were still here, everything would have been different. I wouldn't have met Riley and Jazzy. I would have just continued living the life I used to live. Everything is so different now. But I'm happy. I'm happy because now I have an amazing girlfriend and a cute little girl to look after. I wouldn't want it to be different.
