I gazed out of the car to the London streets. We left behind the hospital heading towards Wolverhampton, my new home.
I turned my head to check on Claire. She was sleeping the seat belt, making a mark on her skin. I slowly lowered her head or rest on my shoulder and she snuggled closer and smiled. I turned back to the window glad my father let her come. We would be lost without each other.
As the homes and building pass, my eyes slowly droop. Soon I'm falling asleep.
" Annie. Annie." Someone is shaking my shoulder, trying to wake my up. " come on...we're home."
I slowly open my eyes. Liam is looking into my eyes, smiling.
" welcome home.." He says. I turn to see a beautiful house. Two stories tall, brown shutters against brick walls, a garden and cobble path leading up to two stairs and a porch, wooden. Claire is up there with my dad. He is showing her a wind chime that as butterflies and flowers. This little gesture reassures me that, maybe he will take her as his own daughter. Maybe. I get out of the car to find that Liam already has my bags of clothes that were rescued from the fire. Along with family things that the firefighters might have found in the rubble. He walks me up that path and I take Claire's hand.
" ARE THESE MY SISTERS?!" A teenaged girl threw open the door and ran outside. She enveloped us into a hug and squealed.
" umm..." I started. She quickly let go and looked at us.
" sorry. I'm just excited!" She explained.
" I didn't know Liam had a sister.."
" two sisters!" Another girl said walking out of the house. " I'm Nicola, and this is Ruth.." She said pointing to Ruth, who was holding me and smiling. "It's so great to have another sister!" Ruth said." One that younger too!"
" well, I'm Annie, and this is my sister Claire." I showed Nicola Claire and she just smiled as they cooed over how cute she was.
" come inside! We want to show you guys the house." Nicola turned and walked us though the rooms of the house.
" and..this is your room." Ruth opened the door to a room. " well, your room to be. It used to be a office, but we cleaned it out. I'm gonna take you out and buy stuff to put in it. Liam's paying." She told me, whispering the last part. She giggled and took my hand to go to the living room.
" you have to meet my mum... She's super nice." We entered the living room and her mum was sitting on the couch talking with my dad. She caught my eye and stood up, smiling.
" Annie..." She said and opened her arms in a hug. I accepted the hug and we stood there.
"Well dinner is ready." She said as she pulled away and ran downstairs. I wasn't that hungry so I decided to stay and unpack my things before heading downstairs where everybody is eating dinner.
When dinner is over we go into the living room and cuddle on the couch, watched a movie until I fell asleep.
The next day, Nicola and Ruth took me to the furniture store to buy stuff for my room. We picked out a white queen sized bed, blue and lime green sheets with lime green curtains to match, a desk, bookshelf, a dresser with a mirror.
Once we were finished, we went to the front and payed for the items. The store delivered the furniture the next day and we set up my room.
