I knew your lungs burnt and they felt charred.
But I never knew that three months really meant twelve hours.
And I swore I would reply to your message later on because I was too tired,
But you too were tired and that's when you left.
And I never got the chance to say "goodbye" or
"I hope you slept well."
Because the God you believed in took you from us so soon.
And now you're walking amongst the golden streets with the brightest sun.
Now I find comfort in cigarette smoke and alcohol,
But after all the drinks hit my system the smoke started to form into your face.
I spend my nights on my bedroom floor, hoping to forget the emotions you left me with. And I see your face in big crowds and in partially empty book stores on Tuesday nights. But really man, I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to say goodbye.
I just hope you know that I regret that I wasn't there in your last hours.
Now I don't sleep between 2 and 4 in the morning.
Just incase you'll ever send me a sign that you're fine,
Don't think I can handle missing that.
Man, I'm glad I got to be a part of your journey through life.
I hope that you aren't too mad at me up there,
'Cause down here, I'm looking forward to part two.
