I first met him in the coffee shop down the road from where I live. He looked to be in a rush. As I walked in he bumped into me, spilling his coffee down the front of my sweater. He apologized repeatedly grabbing a few napkins and helping me wipe off my chest.
"Oh god. I'm so sorry. I didn't see you coming in." He sighed handing me some napkins.
"It's okay. Let me pay for your coffee. I insist." I smiled unzipping my sweater and tying it around my waist.
"Thank you but you don't need to." He smiled.
"Oh no please. It's fine." I smiled as we walked over to the counter.
He ordered two black coffees and I ordered two pumpkin spice lattes. I paid and we waited for our order. He smiled and thanked me. We exchanged phone numbers though I didn't give him my name. He smiled and tried to pay me back but I refused.
"Danielle." My name was called and I walked over grabbing our order.
"So that's your name. Danielle? That's cute. My name is Sean." He smiled.
"Why thank you Sean. Here you go. Two black coffees for the Irishman." I smiled handing him his coffee.
"Haha. So which way do you have to walk?" Sean asked as we exited the shop.
"This way." I pointed to my left.
"Same. Shall we walk together?" Sean chuckled.
"I'd like that." I smiled.
We walked in silence. It wasn't an awkward silence but a comfortable one. I smiled as we both turned to the same apartment building. He chuckled as we climbed the stairs. We both smiled when we walked down the same hallway.
"Well then." I chuckled reaching in my pocket for my key.
"Guess we were going to the same place." Sean smiled.
"Yeah. Guess we were." I smiled as my phone rang.
"Need a hand?" Sean asked.
"No I got it. Oh crap. I'm sorry I have to go. Nice to meet you." I smiled before rushing to the stairs and up two floors.
