"You ready?" Ayato asked as he stood up from his regular seat at the park

"Yeah" I breathed, suddenly feeling the weight of the bag on my shoulders. The weight of Anteiku, my heartbreak, Kaneki.

I had contacted Ayato after I left early from the cafe and told him I'd go back to Aogiri Tree with him. We decided to meet at our usual spot after I had packed my stuff, he was surprised that I had agreed to leave with him but he didn't question it despite the fact that he is incredibly curious.

"Hey, Ayato?" I called his name as we started for the train station, the sky was turning orange as night approached and the sun was ready to present its disappearing act.

"What do you want?" He almost growled, I almost flinched at his now rude demeanor

"What's Aogiri like?"

He paused, "The Tree?...Strong. You're gonna have to defend yourself." He answered vaguely but sharply

Strong? Defend myself? What is that supposed to mean? Although I was more curious as to why his attitude changed all of a sudden? Somewhere deep inside of me, I knew I couldn't turn back now, Aogiri Tree  is waiting for me. But there's another part of me saying to run, to turn back, that this isn't right.

"Train #5 is now boarding and will be leaving in 5 minutes" A monotone voice echoed throughout the station

"Let's go Miza, you're walking too slow" Ayato pushed as he trudged along in front of me

"Coming" I muttered as I walked faster to catch up to his long strides.

Ayato and I boarded the train, neither of us said a word as the scenery of the Wards whizzed by, from city to city, territory to territory. We got further and further away from the peace of the 20th Ward. Occasionally, you could smell the presence of a ghoul on the train and none of them looked as friendly as the ghouls at Anteiku. As I sat on the train, legs cramping, my body becoming exhausted, my mind wandered to how the members of Anteiku will react when they realize I'm gone, will they be upset? Will they be mad? I wonder what Kaneki or Nishiki will think or say, will they...hate me?

As we got closer to our destination, the train got emptier and emptier...until it was just Ayato and I. As I sat next to the train doors, I couldn't help but glance at him as he stood in the entryway of the train next to my seat, he looked a lot like Touka from the side even though he's a lot taller, leaner and overall masculine. I found myself unable to keep my eyes off of him as the setting sun's light came in from the train windows and shone on him. He suddenly caught my eye, his stare was intense but I didn't feel like looking away. I was surprised when a small sigh left his lips, his gaze became softer and he moved away from the doors to sit beside me.

"Miza.." He breathed, his voice in my ear. He was suddenly so close, I could feel his hair tickle my neck. My mind was blank, I couldn't move. But his voice...it was husky, alluring, enthralling. It drew me in like a moth to a flame.

"What are you doing?" I asked hastily

"Teasing you, I'm bored. Keep still" He mumbled into my hair

He was so close that his scent was the only thing I could inhale. His breath was surprisingly light, I found myself scared to look directly at him so I kept my head down as he moved in closer. One of his hands found their way to my waist while the other curled up in my hair. I was starting to get lost, in the way his thumb ran circles around my bare hip, or the way his hand caressed my hair gently or maybe it when I finally looked up at him, the way his eyes held something more, something indescribable, something that started the mending of my heartbreak in a few moments. I lost all control, as I felt my fingers grab his jacket. I felt his hands tighten around my waist as he got impossibly closer.
