"Why did you do that?!" I yelled at Avery once we were in my kitchen.
"Do what? Save your life?" He slightly yelled.
"Save my life? We left my best friend, she was bleeding, scared, and we left her. Why would you make me do that? You know what I'm going back to help her." I said as I started waking towards the front door.
"You can't, it's to dangerous." A sad look on his face as he said it.
"Why not, why is it so dangerous? Answer me."
"They'll get you. I can't let that happen."
"Avery, people are scared, I'm scared and I don't know what's happenening. All I know is that Mackenzie is out there and I'm not with her."

I started to open the door when Avery's hand pushed it closed. He looked at me with his dark eyes and sat me down on the couch.

"People are changing." His voice wavering as he spoke.
"Changing how?"
"They're changing into monsters that can't be stopped." Tears forming in his eyes.
"What do you mean by monsters?" As I said this a cold shiver went down my spine.

As Avery spoke with a saddened expression all I wanted to do was hold him and not let go.

"These monsters are eating anything with a heart beat and blood in their body. They can't be stopped." There were tears going down his cheeks now.
"How do you know this Avery?"
"I saw it. My mom attacked my dad and brother. That's why I was almost late to school today I didn't know where else to go after seeing that. One bite or scratch from one of those things and you turn into them."
"Why did you still come to school Avery? That's horrible."
"I wanted to make sure you and Mackenzie were safe."

Avery looked up at me sitting there about to burst into tears. I did, I had nothing else to do but sit there and cry. What was going to happen? What about my parents? How would we survive?

This was the worse birthday ever in the history of birthdays.
