Slowly I started to emerge from a fitfull sleep. My dreams kept me up off and on till about 3 in the morning when I subcummed to a blissfully silent sleep. As I opened my eyes slowly not quite remembering the events of the previous day, that was until I looked beside me and saw Avery peacefully sleeping while wrapped in a blanket. Slowly all the accounts of yesterday's events rushed to me jerking me fully awake. Where were my parents? Where was Mackenzie? What in the hell was going on? As I sat there talking in my head Avery started to stir and as I reached over to touch his shoulder he jumped with such a start that he was standing in an instant. He looked at me with fright in his eyes but slowly he realized where he was and why he was there.
"Sorry did I scare you?" I asked with a worried look in my eyes.
"No. You just saved me from a bad dream that consisted of clowns chasing me through a circus."
I slightly giggled at the thought of his adventurous and yet horrifying dream.
"Did you sleep well?" He asked as he wiped the sleep out of his eyes.
"Hardly. It was peaceful yet restless at the same time, a few bad dreams as well. What about you? You looked so peaceful in the blanket." I said, a slight smile sneaking onto my face.
"Oh you know, the same."
"I'll be right back."
"Where are you going?" He asked a worried expression on his slightly tired face.
"I'm going to the bathroom dummy."
I slumped my way upstairs, realising I was still wearing my clothes from yesterday. Stopping in the bathroom first to brush my matted hair and teeth.
Slowly making my way to my bedroom I noticed Avery standing by the window just starting at nothing. Dismissing his strange behavior I slipped into a fresh pair of jeans and a T-shirt. I slipped on a pair of converse and putting my hair in a ponytail before heading back into the living room.
I went down the stairs only to be greeted by a yelling Avery from the kitchen. I ran to the kitchen not knowing what I would find.
"Avery what's wrong?" My voice sounding frantic as I spoke.
"There's no food and I'm hungry."
"Really that's the reason you almost gave me a heart attack?" Exasperation in every word.~ 1 hour later ~
"Okay now I'm really hungry can we go find some food somewhere? Please?" He asked, a pleading tone in his voice.
"But what if there are more of those things out there?" Terror now coursing through my body.
"We'll bring weapons with us just in case."
"Where are we going to get weapons?"
"You have knives don't you?" He said sarcastically.
"I'm not sure Ave."
"We need food Shay, unless you want to starve."
"Fine but we stay together. Understood?"
"OK, sounds good to me."
After this possibly deadly decision was made we grabbed a couple of knives and headed for the front door. As soon as we stepped outside into the humid air I had to sheild my eyes from the sunlight that burned my eyes. Considering my mom and dad had taken their cars to work the previous morning we had to walk. The only thing on my mind as I walked was if they were okay. We walked together into the unknown of what could be outside the safety of my home.~Authors Note~
My mum had to help me with the beginning of this chapter to get me started. Without it I wouldn't have this chapter done. I hope you're enjoying this story because it's just the beginning. Thank you to my mum and the readers who find my story good enough to read. Until next time. Bye.
