This guy was so weird, he could obviously see me in pain but he kept a positive attitude... it kind of made me comfortable. "W-who are yo-ou?" I asked, chewing the bottom of my dried lips as he locked eye contact with me.
Raising one eyebrow, he replied "Some kid who lives in a forest" smiling as if it was normal, "Ville, Reed Ville" he reached his hands out, expanding the cotton jumper he was wearing, I reached out trying to bare the bolt of pain that was entering my limbs and shook his hand awkwardly. I then hid my arms under the thick wolfskin blankets while the brew started to kick in. My eyes grew heavier, pulling their way down until everything became black, and I fell into a deep slumber.
When I woke up, the moon was at it's full peak, glaring down into the forest reflecting on the symmetrical trees, adding silver threads to one side of the trunks. My head was throbbing, syncing with every energy-filled pump from my heart as I rose, scanning the room to find a very amused Reed watch me get up while he was carving little ornaments made out of dried wood. "Evening sleepy-head" Reed was in his positive mood as usual, but he was concentrating a lot harder on his carvings than his judgemental stares while his dark brown hair slid down the corner of his face and rested infront of his ear.
Squinting my eyes as I clutched the palm of my hand onto my forehead, I asked "What are you doing?" I felt a little bit better sucking the clear air into my lungs.
"Carving" He replied. "My dad used to teach it to me before he left... hah" A nervous chuckle of laughter escaped from his mouth. He rose from his seat in the corner; placing the bird-shaped ornament on the floor along with the collection of dirt scattered around the floor. I questioned the awkward look on his face, "I'm gonna go get some firewood, for y'know... fire and stuff" he declared, as he cautiously coughed before ruffling his hair, he really hadn't been around a girl in a long time.
"Can I come? I could help carry some wood for you" I asked, waiting for him to trip on a piece of wood, or choke on his own saliva while trying to act cool. Maybe talking about his dad makes him feel uncomfortable...
He looked at me with his turquoise eyes, I felt like I could jump into them as the bright blue vortex carried me to wherever, "Yeah sure, I mean, if you can handle it" I kinda felt like his positive attitude had transitioned into a 12 year old boys awkward persona infront of unknown guests.
As I slowly got up my vision became a blur, like a camera lense flickering as it tried to adjust to a new found background. Lowering my back as my knees collided with the ground, I forcefully pushed my hands from the ground and hopped up onto my two feet, allowing Reed's oversized clothes to lower down and hang down below my knees as my jacked disabled the jumper from slipping off my shoulders. The sick stench of rotting meat quickly appeared as it approached my nose and made me gag. I raised my bruised hand once again clutched my forehead to find the peice of meat was not on my forehead but resting on the side of the blankets of wolfskin. I suppose it slipped as I tried to get up.
Reed approached me holding a fur jacket, baring his dimples along with his smile, and covering me with another layer of thick fur he said, "Here, you should be okay once you step outside" I guess the positive stranger I first met was back once again.
"Thanks" I smiled, stretching my chapped lips, allowing them to break into deeper cracks of flesh.
