Chelsea’s POV

I knew we shouldn’t have watched that movie before sleeping. I just knew it!

So, the girls and I watched the movie “Insidious 2” last night, we weren’t that creeped out when we saw it. And by ‘we’, I mean me, Maxine, and Elle. The rest were… disturbed.

Why am I bringing the subject up?

Well, it’s a few minutes passed one in the morning and there’s continuous loud thumping sounds coming from downstairs. Dad left at around 10 last night, since there was a problem with the papers in his office and he really needed to fix them, so there’s just me and my cowardly friends in the house… along with whoever is downstairs.

And the scary part is, I’m the only one awake.

“No you’re not.” I heard someone grunt from the other end of the row of sleeping bags. I turned my head just in time to see a hideous red nest ascending. I bit my lip to keep from laughing; Elle and her bad case of morning hair.

“I’m guessing I said that out loud.” I said. Elle simply shot me a ‘duh’ look as she tried to fix her hair with her fingers. “You hear the noises too?” Another ‘duh’ look.

“Will someone shut that up, I’m trying to sleep here!” Maxine complained as she shot up from her sleeping bag. “Sheesh, is Frankie having stomach trouble again?”

“Hey! I’m right beside you.” Frankie arose, glaring at Maxine. “And I don’t always have stomach troubl-“ Then, there was a very loud crash from downstairs. The last two people who were asleep – Massie and Aleesha – finally woke up. Massie grabbed hold of Elle’s arm, making Elle look at her with a ‘WTF?’ look before yanking it away. Aleesha just sat up and screamed.

“What was that?” Massie whispered. The rest of us shrugged before another crashing sound came. This time, all of us huddled together in the middle of the room.

“Someone should check it out.” Maxine hissed.

“I agree.” Betty said. “Elle, you do it.”

“Hell no! I don’t know how many are there, I could get killed. Mass, you do it!” She shoved Massie to stand, but to no avail.

“Why me? I could get killed too, you know?”

“Don’t you watch horror movies? The bimbo always gets killed first.” This earned her a slap from Massie. A really really really hard slap. Elle was about to do the same to her, when I decided to speak up.

“I think Aleesha should go.” At that, her head quickly snapped to me. Her eyes were wide, well, wider than usual.

“Sheshemenee!” She shrieked as her face contorted. “Huwaaaaaaaaaaa? No no no no no no!” She began to speak in her own version of a Spanish accent whilst wagging her finger. “I’m not going down there. No no no.”

“Why not? You are the oldest one here. You’ve lived longer than the rest of us. You know what they say, first one in, first one out.” At that realization hit the other girls’ faces and they nodded in agreement.

“I’m not going down ther-“ Frankie didn’t let her finish as she handed her a broom.

"What's this for?"

“To protect yourself.” I said simply. Aleesha shook her head as she stared at the broom in horror.

“It’s easy,” Maxine began. “Just go down there and check it out. If it’s a kidnapper, yell... um... ‘TAKEN”

“And if it’s a thief, yell ‘PINK PANTHER” I said reassuringly, though I could tell humor was written all over my face.

“And if it’s a rapist, yell ‘POWER DRILL” Massie added. Aleesha opened her mouth to protest, but Elle took the liberty of dragging her to the door, locking her out. Aleesha began to bang on the door and screaming like there was no tomorrow.
