Jay
Her small body lay there broken in a heap of stones, going over the edge like she did was generally suicide. She looked mangled and her blood painted the stones a crimson color. You can see a small white cloud come out of her mouth. The cold was making her do that but it also meant she was still breathing.
I looked up to see snowflakes falling on the ground. I scooped her up she was surprisingly small and pathetic looking. I cradled the unconscious girl like a small child. The snow flakes dotted her long brown hair and clothes. Her eyes were a pale green I saw them when her eyes would flash open from time to time. They reminded me of Allison's accept a lot lighter. Bird and I had hazel eyes and I had blonde hair that made Bird joke and call me pretty boy all the time.
Her blood soaked my hands and deer pelt shirt, but the bleeding wasn't as heavy now. I kept walking and picking up my pace as the snowfall grew heavier. I could see my breath in the air and with the temperature dropping quickly it grew more prominent.
I was very close to the building now and I started to run as fast as I could with her in my arms. I was just yanking the door of our building open as the snowfall picked up and the outside soon became a sea of white.
Bird was staring blankly at the fire when I came in. I figured she would have went to sleep before I even returned. Bird looked me in the eyes and then looked down and saw the girl. She looked at me with all the fury her heart could muster and spat the words
"What did you do Jay?!" I stood emotionless looking at her for a few seconds before replying as calmly as I could
"Nothing."
"Jay you didn't do anything really? Because you wouldn't be standing in the doorway like an idiot with some random kid in your arms if you didn't do anything."
"Bird please stop just get some pelts and put them by the fire." She did without a word. I put the girl down in the pelts and then a still fuming Bird approached me. She pointed at me and hissed
"I should hurt you, its winter and we really can't afford another mouth to feed."
"Bird this argument is over go to bed." She turned and looked at me "Now." I tried to act like the parent in that situation but we both know I was failing at it miserably.
" No I won't you are my brother not my father so you can't tell me what to do, and this is not over." Before I could react she came over and pushed me into a wall. I grabbed her wrists and forcefully made her stop.
"Bird I think it might be better for the both of us if you just go cool off upstairs I don't need her waking up and seeing you rearing and ready to rip her head off." Bird gave me one last glare before she stomped up the stairs.
I sat down beside the girl because if she woke up in the middle of the night I wanted someone to be there with her. I pulled the pelt off her and uncovered her back so I could see her cuts. They had stopped bleeding for the most part so I went over to the pile of pelts and fabric that we kept in the room for blankets and other things. I found a thin fabric and ripped it into strips. I tied the strips around her so they were covering up her cuts so they didn't get infected.
Those cuts would leave nasty scars. I had so many scars many being from stupid things like the time I managed to be walking to close to a sharp piece of metal. It cut up my face pretty good and the scar is so ugly. It runs across most of my cheek. It is just so ugly because instead of a cut it just took away a chunk of my flesh. I had a few scars from where I had been hit by a knife or axe but most were just from really stupid things.
The fire kept on crackling and I just kept on listening and waiting for her to wake up. Her breathing was quiet and she looked peaceful until she started thrashing in her sleep, she must have been having a real scary nightmare. She started to yelp out in pain but aside from her cuts I
hadn't seen anything else that was wrong with her. I heard Bird scream from her room
"Jay could you get your little friend to shut her mouth or else I will come down there and make her." I did the first thing that came to mind to shut her up. I clamped my hand over her mouth. After a few seconds she stopped screaming and a little while later she stopped thrashing. I took my hand off apprehensively as if she would start up again.
She started to move a lot and I think that she was about to wake up. Eventually I saw her pale green eyes open and blink a few times. She looked at me and blinked a few more tomes as if she was trying to focus her eyes on me. She looked up at me after her eyes had focused and asked in a very timid voice
"Who are you and do you have any clue where I am or what I am doing here?"
