The next few days were all the same. Ryder would talk to me, mainly help on math work. He continued to call me 'princess' no matter how many times I told him my name, he would simply reply with,"I know your name, princess." He never talked to me outside of class. He would look at me though. Maybe for a few seconds then look away. It wasn't that scary long intense stare like last week.
It was Thursday and I was walking to my locker after school to discard my text books. I didn't have homework today, which I was happy about.
Kelsey is going on her date tonight and I made her promise to call me afterwards so she can tell me all about it.
I closed my locker and jumped about ten feet in the air when I saw a guy leaning up against the locker next to mine. My slapped my hand over my fast beating heart and my eyes went wide when I saw Ryder.
His eye brow was raised and he looked amused.
"Did I scare you, princess?" His tone was playful.
I swallowed and stuttered out,"N-No."
He chuckled and shook his head.
"I didn't mean to scare you I was just going for ask if you'd like a ride home. Seeing as we are now neighbors."
I thought about it for a second.
Alone? In a car? With him? What's there to think about?
"Oh, no that's alright I have a ride home." I replied.
Liar, Alex works late on Thursday's.
He shrugged.
"Alright then. Your loss." And he walked away.
I held back a sigh of relief as I watched him walk away.
I sent a text to Max to see if he had left yet.
Max: Sorry, Iz I have football practice.
Me: It's fine Max. I'll see you tomorrow.
I sighed and put my phone away.
I walked down the sidewalk and tried to keep my thoughts occupied with anything other than Ryder. I thought about Kelsey and her date tonight. I hope it works out for her. The last girl she dated was toxic. She drove her over the edge and it took a lot of nights curled up crying into bowls of popcorn while watching orange is the new black to get her back to normal Kelsey. I smiled lightly at the memories. It was sad to watch her go through that but we had fun. Max and I would come over and try to cheer her up. At first it was hard. She'd make us leave after a while. But then we'd have sleep overs and say her ex to the female version of Pornstashe. I bit back a giggle when she actually got a call from the girl and her name lit up as 'Lady Pornstashe'.
When I finally made it home there wasn't anyone inside.
I walked into the kitchen and saw a note on the counter.
Isabella and Max,
Your father and I both have meetings late tonight. There is left over lasagna in the fridge for dinner. We should be home around 8:30. We love you.
Love, mom.I resisted to urge to roll my eyes. I left the note on the counter for Max to see when he gets home. I walked up to my room and threw the bag on the floor.
I stripped out of my clothes and into some sweats, a sports bra and a black t-shirt.
I tied my hair up in a bun and went down stairs. I made my self a bowl of Fruit loops and plopped down on the couch.
