Ross's POV

"Twenty five minutes to midnight!"

It almost felt exactly like my birthday night, except that I was the one at Hailey's house. Everyone was in the backyard, waiting for the clock to struck 12 while I was sitting by the pool, with my feet inside it.

I was waiting for Hailey to get fully recovered, knowing her mother would make sure she's fine. After almost 6 minutes of waiting patiently for her to wake up, I was kicked out of her room, and forced to leave her hand.

She was holding it back for dear life, and once I released it she thankfully woke up, searching for it.

I thought this night would be somehow amazing, knowing I might, just might, get to have a New Years kiss with her.

But here I sat, listening to music with a single earphone.

Oh wow, I'm living the single life.

It felt like I was the only single human being, seeing Charlotte and Felix talking shyly, Riker and Ruby kissing secretly, Jason and Rose messing around together and Rocky and his new chic Flirting.

"Hey," my body almost startled, I whipped my head to see Hailey standing with a bottle of what seemed like an alcohol beverage in her hands. "Want some?"

"Hey. Are you alright?"

"Totally," she warmly smiled before walking towards me, one hand stiffed inside her jean jacket. "It's just fainting, it's not like I was shot, or something."

"Good," with my shy, and very bewildered self, I tried keeping up with the conversation. But it seemed like I didn't have to pressure myself anymore since she removed her pink combat boots and digger her clones covered feet inside the water.

"What are you doing here, all alone?"

"I just didn't know exactly what to do," I nervously chuckled, removing the earphones. "So I figured out I'd stay here."

"I'm sorry about what you saw earlier, before I passed out. We weren't actually kissing," she started, pouring a small amount of the red drink in the glass.

"You weren't?"

I kind of feel guilty, for many, many reasons now.

"No, it was just the corner of the lips, right here," her fingers slowly tapped on the very far corner of her pink, full lips. "I wouldn't want to kiss my cousin on the lips. I think it'd turn out bad."
