Chapter Nineteen: Deatheaters and Werewolves

Alison and Ginny stationed themselves at the end of the corridor. They could see Ron and Neville down the other end.

“What do you think he’s doing?” Alison asked Ginny in a low whisper.

Ginny shrugged her shoulders, “Harry thinks he’s a Deatheater.” Ginny said softly. Alison recalled a lunch date she was trying hard to forget, ‘You’ll be given an honor like Draco.’ Alison shivered at the memory of his voice.

“I think he might be right.” Alison said to Ginny softly.

Half an hour later The Room of Requirement opened. Alison and Ginny began to run towards the door, as did Ron and Neville. Malfoy stepped out holding a shriveled up hand. Alison stopped in her tracks, as did the others.

Malfoy looked around him, almost as if he was making sure that no one was there. He caught sight of the four of them and dropped something on the floor. Almost instantly the corridor filled with thick black smoke. Alison coughed and reached her hands out in front of her trying to find her way out of the cloud. She could hear footsteps coming closer.

“Get to bed.” Malfoy hissed in her ear. Alison drew her wand but didn’t cast any spells. She was afraid to hit one of her friends. So instead she groped hopelessly until she made it out of the corridor. Ron, Neville, and Ginny were already there.

“What was that all about?” Neville asked catching his breath.

“He had others with him.” Alison said looking around for a sign of where they went.

“I think they went that way, towards the astronomy tower.” Ginny said and they started off running. Alison got a sickening feeling in the pit of her stomach. The astronomy tower was where Dumbledore always died.

Not long into their pursuit of Malfoy they ran into Lupin. Alison actually knocked right into him. Lupin grabbed her arms and steadied her on her feet.

“What are you lot doing out of bed?” Lupin asked as Bill came around the corner followed by Tonks.

“We just saw Malfoy, coming out of the Room of Requirement. He blacked out the hallway, and ran, with others. They headed that way!” Ginny filled in quickly. Lupin didn’t take time to question them; he just turned on his heel and ran towards the tower. They caught up with the Deatheaters in a matter of minutes.

One of them broke away and ran up the stairs to the tower, but the rest of them began to fight. Alison ducked down low as a flash of green light flew by her head, missing her by inches.

Crouched on the floor Alison began shooting spells at the large cloaked Deatheaters. A few of her spells hit their marks, but they didn’t slow down the Deatheaters any. Professor McGonagall came running into the corridor, almost tripping over Alison.

“Miss Parker!” she said in surprise, “What are you doing here?” she asked stunned and then shook her head pulling Alison back to the ground as another killing spell shot past them and hit a Deatheater square in the chest. He collapsed at the bottom of the stairs but that didn’t stop Malfoy from climbing up them.

“Be careful!” McGonagall called as she rushed away from Alison and into the fight. Alison stood up, her wand at the ready and ran farther into the battle. Another curse flew over her head and Alison ducked to avoid it. She came up and shot a disarming spell at Fenrir Greyback. His wand went flying and he let out a roar. He began charging at Alison and she let out a scream cowering back against the stone wall.

Bill Weasley came up between her and Greyback stopping him from attacking Alison. Instead Greyback swiped furiously at Bill’s face, his hands claw like and flashing. Alison cringed as she heard the sound of ripping flesh.
