Chapter Eight: Dreams
The next morning Alison woke up from a great night of sleep. For the first time in weeks she hadn’t had any dreams. Well any dreams that caused her to wake in the night covered in sweat with a pounding headache. She had had one dream, but it was one she definitely wanted to keep to herself. Alison and Ginny got dressed in high spirits. They were fighting against Umbridge right under her nose and she didn’t even know it.
When they entered the common room however they found Colin waiting impatiently, his face quite unhappy. Alison stopped laughing when she saw his face, “Why so angry?” asked Ginny playfully bumping into him.
“Go look on the notice board.” he replied in a short voice. Alison looked over to where the notice board was. It was blocked by a few students; Fred and George were blocking most of her view. She walked over and slipped in front of the crowd, quickly reading the new notice and returning to Ginny, “No teams, clubs, or organizations allowed unless authorized by her?”
“What?” exclaimed Ginny, “Tell me that’s not what it says?”
“That’s what it says, Gin.” Colin answered in a low voice.
Angelina came rushing over towards Alison, her face almost as angry as Colin’s, “That notice includes Quidditch, so no practice today. We have to get the okay from Umbridge.” Angelina looked a bit discouraged as she walked away to tell the twins the bad news.
Down in the Great Hall Hermione was trying desperately to keep everyone at their own house tables. They had all started towards the Gryffindor table, no doubt to discuss what they would do next but Hermione kept waving them away. Finally Ginny decided to go tell her boyfriend, Michael and hopefully he would help to spread the news in a less obvious way.
Alison looked back at Harry after Ginny left, “So what are you gonna do?” she asked taking a bite of toast.
“I don’t know. Where in the world could we fit that many people?”
“Beats me.”
“Great load of help you are, Ali.”
Alison flashed him a smile, “I try real hard. I’ll see you later,” she stood up grabbing her bag, “don’t want to be late.”
Umbridge still hadn’t decided if she would allow the Gryffindors to have their quidditch team. So the team ended up in the common room for the night, occupying themselves with other things. Fred and George decided the best way to spend their free time was by demonstrating the Skiving Snackboxes. Alison sat at the table behind them, writing down orders with Lee Jordan.
The twins were taking turns eating one end of a puking pastilles and then projectile vomiting into a bucket on the floor before forcing down the other end and standing up straight. Each time they were greeted with rounds of applause and cheers.
“These snackboxes are the best idea they’ve had yet.” Alison said while writing down another order. She didn’t know Lee Jordan like she did the twins, but they had spent some time together.
“It sure is. They’re going to be rich!” Lee answered, adding up how many sales they had made so far. Alison looked up from the parchment she was writing on and got a clear view of Hermione. She was clucking her tongue and shooting the group of them the nastiest look she could muster. Alison rolled her eyes and went back to writing down names.
