THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GET GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!When I came to again, I groaned. What the heck is hurting so bad? I thought.
When I looked down, I realized what was causing agonizing pains to pulse through my body.
The offender, a crossbow bolt.
I was thankful that the bolt was finally removed but the after effects were absolutely horrible.
"Fallen?"
I jumped up and tried to get into a fighting stance while laying down, which was stupid, but can you blame for trying?
"Yeah?" Came my croaky reply.
"How are you holding up?" Raydien asked, tentatively.
"About as great as you can feel with a giant bolt wound in your thigh, but thanks for asking Raydien." I replied with a small smile.
"You want to try to stand up?"
"I thought you'd never ask." I replied, as I tried to stand up. When I got to a sitting position, and drew my feet in closer to my legs, I could immediately feel the pain as it shot through me like a wildfire. I gritted my teeth and hoped that Raydien wouldn't notice the pain that I was in.
"Fallen, you doing okay?" Raydien's voice snapped me out of my pain filled haze.
"Yeah." I said through gritted teeth.
"You sure?" Raydien said as he studied me.
"Never better." I said through my clenched jaw.
Raydien shrugged. "Then up you come!"
Raydien grabbed hold of one of my arms and stood me up.
I nearly screamed at the amount of pain that shot through me at that moment.
"Fallen, why are you crying?" Raydien teasingly asked.
"No reason." I said through biting my tongue, so I wouldn't scream or sob.
"So you wouldn't mind if we sparred?" He said, with a wide smile on his face.
It was then that I decided that I was at my maximum for pain in one day.
My tears slowly slipped out as I finally let myself cry for just a little bit.
"You know I was kidding right?" Raydien asked through a serious voice.
I shook my heead, as sobs racked my body.
"Oh Fallen." He said as he took me by the arms and sat me in the bed. Without missing a beat, he put his arms around me, and put one of his hands at the base of my neck, and brought the other hand on my back and me to his chest.
I tried to stop the tears by bringing my hands up to my eyes and taking a deep shuddering breath in and out, but Raydien put his hands over mine.
"It's not going to help to keep it in, just let it all out." Raydien softly said, as he held my small body.
I finally let all the grief out.
I cried for what felt like forever.
"You done?" Raydien asked me through a strangely soft voice.
"Yeah, sorry" I managed to croak out. "I hate crying!" I exclaimed as I hung my head awkwardly.
"It's fine." Raydien said as he shrugged. "Sometimes strength comes from your lowest point."
I looked at him weirdly as I pondered this.
"Why do you say that?" I questioned.
"Lets just say I've had my fair share of experiences." Raydien replied cryptically.
I shrugged.
"So what are we going to do today?" I pipped up.
"You are going to stay in bed while I get Dr. Lawrence." He said while running out of the room.
I groaned, and sat back against the pillows.
I was sick and tired of being left in this room for so dang long! I felt like I was suffocating with the smell that was was always coming through my nostrils.
After what felt like a few more hours of allowed self pity, I finally came to the notion a way to get out of this castle. I had to wait a little bit for my injury to heal and then I could finally be on the road to finding my parent's killers again.
I mentally rejoiced in my plan.
"Fallen?" I whipped my head up, startled.
"Yeah?" I said, cautiously.
"You feeling any better?" Questioned Raydien, as he sat down on the edge of the bed next to me.
"A little bit better, I guess." I said as I readjusted my position, then winced when pain flared up my leg.
"Dr. Lawrence wants to come give you a check up, and then if he clears you, we can go horse riding," Raydien said, after a long beat.
My face instantly lit up.
"Really?" I exclaimed, my voice gaining pitch as it normally does when I'm excited.
"Really." Raydien said with a solemn nod, and a growing smile on his face that matched my own.
"Fallen!" I heard from the doorway.
"How are you feeling?" Asked the voice of the one and only Dr. Lawrence.
"Pretty okay, thanks." I politely said, even though we both knew that I was lying.
Dr. Lawrence walked up to me and placed his stuff down on the bed.
"Let's get started then."
After what seemed like hours of him telling me to do certain things, like lay down, let me push on your leg from this position, and that position, let me massage your leg and see if it hurts, I was finally cleared to ride.
I was ecstatic about it until I asked Raydien if he wanted to ride with me.
