Chapter eleven

It was later in the night. Armin and I found a couple books to read, and we were sitting on a couch near the corner of the room. We laid our books on the table I front of us and started reading. We were probably there for about an hour, so I felt like saying something to pass the silence. "H-hey Armin, I just wanted to say thank you." He looked up from his book. "Hm, what for? I haven't done anything." He looked a little confused as he spoke. "Well I've just been feeling out since I only got here about a week ago. And training has been really stressful so I want to thank you for tonight, for being my friend." I smiled as I spoke to him. Armin then put his book down smiling and grabbed my hand.
"(Y/n).." He said. "I also want to thank you, you've just made me feel, happier. Ever since you've come into my life I've felt a ray of hope, for humanity.. For me.." He leaned in closer. "A-Armin, I-I don't know what to say.. Thank you" we both started to lean in, getting closer and closer by the second.

Just as we were inches away from each other's faces, the doors to the library swung open and we both jolted back. "Hey do I hear talking in here?" We both looked at each other, scared. It was the last person we wanted to hear. It was Levi. He then started walking to the back of the library. We both stared ahead as we watched the short man appear in front of us. "What are you two brats still doing up?" He looked at me, then to Armin, then to our hands still interlocked. "I hope what I think is going on isn't." He said looking at us, more angrily then before.
"Wh-what uhh no, we were just comparing hand size. R-right (y/n)?" "Uhh y-yeah, that's what we were doing." He just looked at us. "Armin, I want you to go clean the stables, and all the horses." Then he looked at me.
"(Y/n) since you decided to stay up all night, we will start training right about, now." "B-but captain, you said it was my day off?" He looked back at me. "I don't care if I said it was your day off, you disobeyed orders. Also we have an expedition in two days, so you need all the training you can get!" He walked off not saying another word.
I looked down to the ground with a tiered expression on my face. "Sigh... Well I have to go Armin I guess I'll talk to you later, I really did have fun." "Yeah me too.. And sorry for making you lose your day off." He looked at his hand he held mine with. I noticed and smiled at him.
"Nah it's fine Armin, he would of made me do it anyways. He doesn't want me to die, I can't die. No not yet, my journey has just begun. Besides I know I'm important. I know as much as you'd want to know about the outside world and about the future for humanity..." I looked at my hands, which were in fist. I unclenched them and looked back at Armin. "Hey Armin I need to tell you something..." I looked him in the eyes. "Well here goes nothing." I thought. "I really lo-" I was interrupted by an angry voice. (Y/n) let's go or I'll make you do 10 extra laps!" I looked in the direction the voice was coming from. I then waved to Armin and left the library.
