Chapter 4

Cheers erupted all around the stadium, if you could even call it a stadium, as one of Cayden's teammates, Bryan, hit the ball hard enough to send it to the outfield. How Cayden had already joined a team, I didn't know, but he was a damn good player. Just a few minutes ago, he was up to bat, and although he didn't hit a homerun, he still made a decent hit that got him to second. Now, he was sliding into third as Bryan was coming around to second. "Yes!" Tyler called out next to me, pumping his fist into the air. The commotion caused the bleach blonde girl on his other side to jump, he eyes breaking away from her phone to land on Cayden.

"Yes, baby," she crooned, leaning forward so he could see down her tank top. Tyler glanced over at me and rolled his eyes. I tried to ignore her as she continued in her seductive tone. "I wish I was at third base with you."

Cayden's lips twitch at the corners, and he looked away from home long enough to wink at her, "All in good time baby, all in good time." She giggled and the ball was hit, and Cayden took off like a flash running into home. I tried to get excited for him, but my stomach was churning. I shouldn't have expected anything else from him, after all, Anthony warned me about him. I didn't understand how he got a girlfriend so fast. He's only been to one party, and even then, nobody knew him.

I stood, pushing past Tyler and the blonde and made my way towards the concession stands. I needed to get away from that airhead. I was standing in line for a bag of popcorn, when someone came up behind me. "Can't stand blondie either, could you?" I turned to find Tyler standing there, his dirty blonde hair sticking up as if he was running his fingers through it. I shook my head, huffing.

"What's her name?" I asked. I didn't recognize her from around town. Maybe she was just here for a summer internship, but then again, in this small town, there weren't even enough internships for the kids who lived here.

Tyler frowned, "You don't know her?" I shook my head again. "To be honest, I don't even know her name. But it's something prissy like Barbie, or Princess, or something like that."

"Never heard of her." I turned away long enough to pay for my popcorn and say thanks before I returned to Tyler. He reached out and tried to grab a handful, but I batted his hand away and at the same time moved the container out of his reach.

"Hey!" he exclaimed. "I just wanted a piece."

"Pay up," I said holding out a hand. "Then I'll let you have some."

Tyler rolled his eyes, "Unfortunately, I'm broke. Apparently someone ordered a huge order of stuff in my name from Victoria's Secret, and apparently, it just cost me sixty bucks." I stopped breathing for a second, but he just kept talking. "Is there even a Victoria's Secret in this town? If there is, then I need to have a talk with Amber and MiMi."

My eyes widened. "Uh, no. Sorry. The closest one is an hour away." He nodded, staring off into space. "Tyler?" He didn't respond. I said his name again, as I waved my hand in front of his face.

"Oh, what, sorry."

"It's fine, you just sorta zoned out for a second."

"My bad." We fell into a comfortable silence as we walked back towards the bleachers. By the time we got back, the game was over, and Blondie was down on the field, pressing her body up against Cayden's. We got there in time to overhear her, "You were amazing," she said, running her hand down his chest. He wasn't looking at her though. He was searching the field over her shoulder for something. Or someone, a little voice in the back of my mind whispered. My face went red, and I picked up speed until we were only a few feet away.

Cayden's hair was tousled from his helmet, and his cheeks were red from the exertion, but his tired eyes lit up when he saw the two of us. "Hey Taylor, didn't know you were coming." I shrugged. Cayden turned to his brother and nodded. I rolled my eyes. Guys.
