Chapter 7
Mellie-belly: dude that sucks. Are you sure she said every Wednesday?
TF: yeah... unfortunately.
Mellie-belly: I mean it's not too bad. At least she's trying. My mom just watches TV and dad gets home late.
TF: ik...
TF: it's slightly annoying, but I guess you're right.
Mellie-belly: Of course I am. I'm me.
I snorted, and typed up a reply.
TF: oh shut up. At least my username doesn't sound like I'm a kindergartener.
Mellie-belly: hey my mom picked this name!
Mellie-belly: besides yours are just your initials. Lammmmmeeeeee.
TF: Hey can you FaceTime instead?
In response, my phone started ringing. I quickly signed off, shut my laptop, then swiped my thumb across the screen to answer. When her picture popped up, I burst out laughing. Melany had a giant scoop of ice cream half way to her open mouth. "Never mind," I laughed. "I don't want to see you." She giggled, nearly spraying ice cream everywhere. I rolled my eyes.
"So what's up?" she asked, except it came out more like, "Oh, ots oop?" I shrugged.
"I don't know. Nothing really. I was just bored."
Melany raised an eyebrow. "You? Bored? Never." Her voice dripped with sarcasm. I glared at her. "Why don't you call your new bestie? He can climb right over." She winked. If she was here right now, I would've slapped her.
"Which one? Tyler or Cayden. Because I'm pretty sure that one, Tyler was flirting earlier, and two, Cayden couldn't care less about me," I said exasperated.
"Take what you can get baby, take what you can get." She heaved an over exaggerated sigh. At least you have boys interested in you."
"You have Rob," I pointed out, mentioning the guy who basically stalked Mel. He followed her to every swim practice she went to and watched from outside the gate. And Melany swears that sometimes when she's watching movies in the living room, she sees him outside on the sidewalk staring in.
Mel shuddered. "Ugh, don't remind me. The dude gives me the creeps. I hope we don't have any classes together next year." Melany closed her eyes, rubbing at a spot between her brows. "Hey speaking of next year, what grades are Cayden and Tyler going to be in?"
I thought about it for a second. "Well, Tyler's seventeen like me... so he should be senior year with us. Cayden though, I think he's going into freshman year at college." I internally deflated at the thought. This was the first time I realized that he was going into college.
"Oooh," Melany winced. "I don't think that will end well."
I sighed, staring out my window, into what would be his room, if the curtain wasn't still closed. "I know. I wish it weren't true though."
Melany said appreciatively, "Yeah, I know what you mean. He has a nice booty." I giggled, and Mel frowned. "Well, I haven't seen, but I assume he has a nice booty." I nodded, and Melany laughed. When she stopped, we sat in comfortable silence, the only one you could obtain with your best friend. After a few minutes, Melany spoke again. "I have an idea." I glanced back at the screen, prompting her to go on. "So you say that you think he isn't interested in you."
"Yeah. So?" I didn't see where she was going with this.
"You need to test him Tae! See if he reacts to you."
