Onto the story!

"Oh no," said a very, very worried-sounding Wheat. "No no no no no no-"

Baguette cut him off (she seemed to be making a habit of cutting people off), responding in a quite pissed off voice, "What's wrong with it? Does his sexuality offend you, Wheat, because I can assure you-"

"Keep your panties in a twist, fucker, I'm simply addressing the fact that Toast is not going to react to this in a particularly nice way," Wheat had become the one who cuts people off, replying with something that confused Bagel and Thomas (they were still awfully new to the group after all) and only seemed to confirm Baguette's fears.

Because they didn't know. Baguette and Wheat had known Toast for a little while, and had seen it in action. There was a different side to her, one that people rarely got to see, and one that you never wanted to. Because it meant that you had utterly fucked up.

Toast wasn't just a control freak, she was one of the worst. If something didn't go how she had specifically planned it, you had unleashed the devil (but not Satan). Especially if it was your fault. She just had a talent for making you feel like complete shit about yourself, like you're nothing compared to her, a fuck up. No one wants that, so no one messed with Toast's plans. Because no one wanted to see that side of her.

And Toast wants to be with Bagel. If Bagel comes out to her, then everything is going to go to shit, and this illusion of happiness will be broken.

Baguette and Wheat know what will happen, and they know it's inevitable, but perhaps they can stall, just to preserve what they have, and continue with the illusion.

Thomas and Bagel were still confused at to why Wheat had essentially freaked out, and why Baguette had agreed with him.

Baguette wanted to tell them, especially Bagel, but she knew that would just lead him to keeping it in until it's too late. Therefore, telling them (even Thomas, bless his kind soul, could not be told, because he would tell Bagel) was out of the question the second it was considered.

But what would they do when it did come up? When Toast finally suspected that something was off, how would she react? Would she show mercy, or would she be just as cold as always? These questions ran through the two's minds, trying to find an alternative, but to no extent.

Just then, Toast came back into the house after her walk, and everyone kind of froze. Because even the more clueless two knew that something was wrong with her, something that would make Wheat and Baguette fear her reaction. Toast seemed to suspect that something was off with the group, but simply dismissed it, choosing to trust them.

"Hey guys!" Toast cried out cheerfully. There were little more than nervous replies.

And at that moment, as he was dwelling over what-the-actual-fuck was going on, Bagel decided to wait. Perhaps he'll tell her tomorrow, in a few days, maybe in an hour or two. All he knew was that he certainly wasn't going to tell her at that exact moment, because he was still trying to mentally prepare himself for what could possibly happen.

Toast was just getting suspicious now, and Wheat could see that, so he cleared his throat and said, "How was your walk?"

"It was fine," Toast answered back, still with a bit of suspicion in her voice. "Really, how much can happen on a walk? I mean, when you really think about it, a variety of things can happen, but it's probably more likely that they'll happen to someone else." Sometimes Toast just started rambling about something, and no one really knew why, but right now everyone was more than glad to have a distraction.
