Everyone knows what a baguette is. If you don't, I suggest you go to Google Images before continuing to read this. Anyway, anyone who knows what a baguette is loves them (unless if you are allergic to them, then you're excused, but I'll call you weird anyway). Because, let's face it, bread is freaking amazing. Carbs? Hah. I think you mean instant happiness.
Our story starts with a baguette named Bagel. No one knows why. It's really confusing. Anyway, Bagel is emotionally unstable. If you look at him he may cry. So whatever you do, do not stare at the baguette.
Bagel has lived in a bread store called "It's Breader Here", also shortened to IBH. Bagel has watched his friends the Dinner Rolls get picked up by a fat man looking to feed his family of humans. He'd seen his mom, named "Mama Baguette", go home with a "lovely" family. Hah. No one else seemed to be fazed by the constant disappearance of their friends. Perhaps it was because it was practically in their job description. All Bagel knew was that he wanted to make sure everyone who has been lost went down in history, and was remembered for centuries.
But there really wasn't anyway to do that, was there? He was just a baguette, with no friends or family. Maybe that's why he's emotionally unstable. He's too sensitive for his own good.
Anyway, one day Bagel was visited by another baguette in his dreams. He was confused, but delighted. He felt like he's seen this baguette before. He soon realized it was because it was his deceased mother. He felt a blossoming of hope in his dense stomach... or maybe that was a bug. Either way, he remained hopeful.
"Have you come back to see me?" Bagel asked hopefully.
"No, my child," Mama Baguette replied. She looked down at him lovingly. "I have noticed you are lonely. I have arranged for you to meet a lovely baguette. Her name is Toast."
"Really? I can't believe this! We'll have baguette babies and name them all Pop Tart!" Bagel exclaimed excitedly.
Mama Baguette shook her head in amusement. "Sadly, it will be a challenge to meet her. She lives in another bread store across town called "The Bread Place". Actually quite classy for the name, if I might add. Anyway, I will give you both the gift of movement, so that you may meet her. But, you must be quick, for she is also lonely, and will not believe that someone actually wants to see her. I wish the best of luck you, my son." And with that she began to fade, leaving Bagel staring at his mother longingly.
"Please stay with me," he begged. "I have no one else."
Her voice was fading, too. "Remember who you arrrrreeeeeee..." She cried as she disappeared, seemingly for good.
Bagel woke up crying. Suddenly, he realized he could move. He sat up and looked around at IBH with a new perspective. He felt a sudden urge to correct it.
"Wow..." he whispered, trying to comprehend what he was about to do. He made a sudden decision, and hopped up, hitting the top of the container. The lid came off easily. He let out a shaky breath, and jumped out.
Bagel then ran as fast as he could outside of the bread store, which admittedly wasn't very fast. Bagel didn't care though.
He was free.
