As I pull in, I think back to all those times I wanted to tell Ryan, but didn't. I grab my bag and head into my parents home. I hear my dad and mom whispering. So I find my way around the kitchen.
"Lindsey.." My dads voice echoes through the house.
I walk into the kitchen. "Yeah?" I ask.
He looks at me with a glare. I look at my mom and she smiles. Oh gosh...
"Where have you been?" My father asks.
"I called and told mom that after school I was going to Ryan's." I say pointedly.
"Did she say you could go?" He asks. Is he serious? I could punch her.
"No, but she also didn't say I couldn't either." I turn and walk towards my room. That's when I hear my dad slap my mom. I close my door put my ear buds in. I turn my music up and lay on my bed.
Home, isn't always my go to place. Matter of fact, its the place I don't want to be. Mom and dad always fight. Mom likes getting me in trouble over small things, she likes when dad takes her side. I pull out my phone and see that Ryan texted me.
-I already miss you being next to me.-
I smile. She's my favorite.
-Oh yeah?- I text back.
-Yes...I might just come over there-
-Mom and dad are fighting. How about I come over there Saturday?- I hit send
-That works- I smile and place my phone on my dresser. I drift off to my music.I feel my covers shift and then hands slide around my waist. My eyes immediately come open. I turn my head slightly and see my little sister Kaylee. Oh gosh. She must have had a nightmare.
"What's wrong Kaylee?" I whisper.
"I want sleep with you" she says. I see tears in her eyes, so I pull her into my embrace. Kaylee will be five next week.
