The Reluctance Of Love

After what can only be described as an awkward journey, due to Glen and Jenny's reluctance to keep their hands off of each other, we arrive at a little pub, not too far away from our house. I've made a decision that I'm going to be honest about my job situation tonight, I have been looking for a job ever since opening up to Danny about Danielle and I have a job interview next week. It's not exactly my dream job, but it is one which I am qualified for.

We pile out of the car and into the homely, ivy covered building. Jerry, the landlord, welcomes us with a friendly grin, beckoning us over to a table by the fire. I take a seat next to Jenny and Rina, Danny settling on the chair opposite me, a cheesy grin apparrent on his face . Happily I return his smile and turn to face Jerry, who is immersed in a conversation with Mark. He turns to look at me with a cordial beam.

"Hello Ellowyn love, how are you my dear?"

"I am brilliant thank you Jerry, yourself? Aggie is still feeding you isn't she. it looks like you've lost a bit of weight."

"Oh she is feeding me alright, I've had to tell her to calm down with all the cooking...She's a bit ill at the moment, nothing to worry about mind. You know how cruel old age can be." At this I send him an empathetic look. "I am of course much better for seeing all your lovely faces, I haven't seen you all here at once before. How on Earth are we going to cope?!" His hearty laugh reassures me that there is nothing to worry about.

"Hey, is there any chance of getting a drink round here? I though this was supposed to be a pub!" Danny chips in, sending a resounding chuckle around the table.

"It'd do you good to good to remember who the boss is around here, Daniel." Jerry quips back, in a mock-fatherly attitude. "I know what you Irish are like when it comes to alcohol! I'll be off to get the usual for you, if that's alright? You can decide what you want to eat while I'm gone."

With that, he leaves to collect the much needed alcohol. Instantly, two couples either side of me disperse into their own conversations.

"So what is your stomach screaming out for today, O'Donoghue?" Danny looks as if to have gone deep into thought at the mention of food. I can almost see the little rusty cobs turning in his brain, a little clock ticking away with each thought.

"Hmm, I think it is craving some cottage pie tonight, something homely. Enlighten me, what have you go an itch for 'Wyn?" Due to my severe craving for stew and dumplings, I answer with just that. Danny waves his hand slightly, almost ordering me to lean into the table slightly. Instinctively, I do as he says and find him stretching to whisper in my ear. "Don't tell Jerry I said this, but I bet the stew won't be as good as my Ma's..." Laughing, I sit back into my seat, sending Danny a look of phony disapproval.

"This stew will be perfectly satsifactory, thank you very much Daniel."

Once our meals, and several drinks, have been consumed, we pay up and head back to my house. Rina has been on strictly soft drinks so she, of course, drives us back. The car journey is taken up by constant tipsy singing, much to the distaste of Rina. Although, we are at the very least reasonably good singers, so it can't have been too uncomfortable for her eardrums.

As we pull up, Rina stops the car and brightly declares: "I am ready to go and get pissed!" This sends me into a dazed spiral of laughter. We clamber out, saying goodbye to Glen and Jenny who have decided to have 'an early night'.

Excitedly, and dare I say slightly unsteadily, we walk down the street in the direction of our nearest club. This is going to be a good night. I can feel it.

A/N: Guess who has decided to get herself sorted?! That's right, little ol' me! This is really short.. but I have rewritten this many times and have spent all day on this (apart from the time I spent procrastinating about my history homework...shh).

And, I promise, the fun is only just beginning.

Oh, and if you haven't noticed, I changed my Wattpad name. Vote/comment/grab me a cookie... And wish me luck as I flabbergast my family with culinary delights...Byee
