After school, the five of us met up in the library.
"How on earth are we able to enter the Indoor Sports Hall when it's locked?" I whispered, hoping no one could hear us.
"I know a magic trick that can unlock the door," he said, a little too loudly.
"Shhhh!" the people in the library shushed him.
"Anyways, we'll meet up in Tina's house. Can you give me your address?" Finn asked me. I told him my address and he nodded. "Okay, we're done." Finn tipped the chair backwards. The chair fell on the floor, causing Finn to fall with a loud thud.
"Shhhhh!" the people in the library shushed him again.
"We're leaving, okay? Happy now?" Finn snapped at the people in the library. After that, we all went home.
When I reached home, my mom smiled at me warmly and greeted me with a welcome.
"Follow me,"she said. I obeyed and followed.
I wasn't surprised when I saw a big bulky bag with things scattered around it. My mom likes to get things ready so time wouldn't be wasted. She instructed me to pack this bag for the camp that was cancelled.
I hated to lie, but I forced a smile out of me and thanked her.
"Oh yeah, Mum. A few friends of mine are coming over. They want to go to the camp with me," I told her.
"Oh, you want me to give them snacks? I've still got some ice cream leftover from your birthday party," she suggested. I shook my head. "Can you give us food instead? I...I worry that the food at the camp may be bad..." I asked. My mother laughed and placed some styrofoam in a red plastic bag.
"How many friends?"
"Um....including me, is five."
"Okay."
"Mum, I'm going to do my homework and get my stuff ready."
"Good girl!"
So after that awkward conversation, I dashed to my room and took the darkest outfit I could ever find in my wardrobe- a black hoodie and dark blue jeans. I placed them on my bed and after that, did my homework then packed that bag.
Time sure passed by fast. By the time I knew it, it was eight o'clock at night. I changed into the dark clothing and placed myself lazily on the sofa.
"Tina, why at you wearing dark clothes?"
"So...erm....I wouldn't be caught by strangers?"
"Did Mr Brown instruct you guys to wear dark clothing?"
"Ur...yes?"
"Oh, okay."
Phew! Close call! I could have my cover blown!
"Ding...dong...." the doorbell rang. I rushed to the door. I saw Meggie, Finn, Rosemary and Elizabeth on the dock. Such a concidence! We were all wearing dark clothes!
"Come in,"I said,"make yourselves at home." They came in and greeted my mother.
"Good-mannered children deserve rewards. Let me treat you some chicken rice!" Mother rewarded them with the styrofoam boxes she packed in the red plastic bag earlier on. "Tina, you come too! You have been a great girl today!" Mother said, with a big smile plastered on her face.
"Thanks, Mom!" I said. I took the last styrofoam box with great pleasure. I was still very guilty of lying to her though. I looked at the clock. It was eight fifteen."Mum, I am going now,"I said, hugging her. "Okay. Got your portable charger?"
"Yes."
"Phone?"
"Yes."
"Remember to text me everyday?"
"Okay."
"Bye, Mom!"
"Bye, Tina!"
We ran out of the house as quietly as a mouse as we did not want anybody to know that we're sneaking into school. Finn took out a bobby pin which was red in color. "This is the object needed to do the trick,"he said, stroking his imaginary beard and raising an eyebrow. Rosemary, Meggie and Elizabeth laughed.
"Shush! We don't want anybody to know that we're here!" I said as we reached the school.
"Okay!"Finn said, glaring at me.
Wasn't I the one to glare?
"Let's get to business," I said, stroking the cold iron bars of the gate. "How do we get in?"
"My calculations say that they are fourteen iron bars in this gate. So, it's recommended to climb over this gate, because we have two legs and fourteen can divided by two without a remainder more than zero," Elizabeth explained.
"Oh, I'm scared Rose. What should I do?" Meggie cried.
"Jump over the gate and die,"Finn muttered under his breath.
"Excuse me?"
"Oh nothing."
"Whatever."
"Guys, stop squabbling and let's just climb over this darn gate!" I whisper-shouted.
Meggie sighed and I said,"Rose, you go first."
"Me?....I....why?"
"You're the lightest so you're first. Up,up and away!"I exclaimed.
"I'm always first," rosemary grumbled unhappily as she placed one of her legs on the bar. We used our hands to support her because we didn't want her to fall. Next was scared Meggie. Her movements were so small and do slow that she used up half an hour just to climb the gate. After her turn, I jumped onto the gate and climbed as fast as I could. I slid down and my legs nearly caught fire.
Elizabeth climbed onto the gate carefully but quickly. When she reached the other side of the gate (where I was), she whispered to us,"my legs nearly scalded badly." We nodded our heads in agreement.
Finn climbed over and fell. Elizabeth took her Band-aid out from her camp bag and placed it on his bleeding nose. She also gave him some tissue to wipe off the blood. That meant that he needed to breathe through his mouth which increased the chance of having our cover blown.
"Come on, let's go!" I said, motioning them to follow me. We took the lift (because Finn likes to stomp on the stairs) to the Indoor Sports Hall.
We opened the door.
We heard footsteps.
We saw amazing stuff.
