“When I said let’s go to Starbucks I didn’t have it mind that I would be waiting in such a long line and all the way at the back.”

“But I need my morning cinnamon dolce crème frappuccino and marshmallow dream bars.”

“And I need my iced chai tea latte and ham & Swiss Panini. By the way what is it that you get from eating that, it barely has enough carbs to serve you til lunch?”

“This figure doesn”t come easy honey.”

“And it never will,” I muttered.

“FYI I heard that.”

I gave her a fake smile. I turned and locked eyes with a pair of clear light blue ones across the room. It’s as if he were seeing right through me. The gaze was intensifying until the man beside him broke the trance by touching his arm. He gave me one last glance before heading out the door.

“Dobrev!”

“Huh, what?”

“I saw that. What was that about?”

“I really don’t know I would like to ask myself the same question.”

“Hi, what can I get you?”

I didn’t even realize we were at the front of the line.

“I’ll have a grande iced chai tea latte and ham & Swiss Panini.”

“Okay that will be $8.75.”

I paid my cash got my food and we were out the door. What was that all about I still want to know and he just came out of nowhere and just caught my eyes.

BAM!

Luyno!” (shit!)

“Nina! Swearing at a time like this?”

Sajaliavam.” (I’m sorry) I blushed.

My Acura RLX had hit the Chevrolet Impala in front of us. The car door opened.

“Now you can say Luyno!”

A man dressed in a fully black suit stepped out of the car. He signaled to me to wind my window down and so I did.

“Good morning madam.”

“Good morning, I’m sorry about the damage I created to your car but if you were to give me your contact number so we-“

“I’m sorry madam that won’t be necessary. All I request of you is your legal name.”

What is this?

“Uhhhh okay but I think you will need writing implements.”

“Already have.”

I looked up to see him with a notepad and pencil in hand.

“Nikolina Dobreva.” And of course I had to spell it out.

“Miss Dobreva where are you heading?”

“NYIT.”

“You are speaking about New York Institute of Technology right?”

“Yes I have registration this morning.”

He nodded, “That will be all Miss Dobreva.” He walked back to the car and went inside.

“That was scary, phews!” Shay said to me, “I think it would be safer if I drove if you get what I mean.”

I wasn’t about to say no to her because well, my mind wasn’t working in good order. I nodded and got out of the car and walked to the passenger’s side, got in and we were off.
