"Percy, are you ok?" I asked. Percy nodded, rubbing his head where he hit a rock, and started to stand while looking back at the pile of ash that was once and drakon.

Zeus himself had sent the two demigods to kill it because he claimed it was interrupting his relaxation, and that it was killing mortals. Although he didn't seem as concerned about that as he did about it being a disturbance.
"So Wise Girl, how are we getting back to camp we kinda lost our ride." Percy asked seeing that the pegasi got spooked and flew back to camp without them.

"Well we could always take the train." I suggested, Percy nodded and we headed to the station.

By the time we got there it was fairly late at night so not many people were in the station let alone the train.

We walked to the last car where there was only one other person there, a girl who at first glance looked to be homeless.

But something was off about her. Then i saw why, she was curled in the seat with a tattered and burned windbreaker around her shoulders. Her gray t shirt and denim shorts were torn and singed showing deep, blood crusted cuts zigzagging her legs, arms, and face. But that wasn't was disturbed me. What did was that, even though she was obviously asleep, her left hand still had a white knuckle grip on an ivory handled celestial bronze dagger.

I pulled Percy with me and we sat directly across from her. By the look in his eyes he's thinking the same thing i am, that this girl looked like she just crawled out of Tartarus itself. And i think we should know.

"Why are we sitting across from her?" Percy asked nervously.

"She's obviously a half blood, we have to help her." I told him. He nodded but didn't like the fact that this girl probably knew how to use that dagger and we were sitting so close to her.

PERCY

I didn't like Annabeth's idea of sitting near a girl who could possibly hurt us. But i trusted her and there was no way i was letting her do this alone.

I was about to ask her how long the ride was gonna be but the girl started shaking, still asleep. Then gasped loudly and dropped her dagger but before it could hit the seat it disappeared in a wisp of silver smoke and a silver bracelet with the symbol of a dagger appeared on her wrist adding one to the other twenty she already had on.

Her eyes widened and she was breathing heavy. She looked around like she was panicked then her eyes fell on us. When she saw us she straightened and gave a small smile.

"Sorry," she spoke, "just had a bad dream. You know how it is, zombies and other mortal stuff." She mumbled the last part like she was still trying to convince herself that it wasn't real. She sat up in the seat looking a tad uncomfortable.

Then i got a real look at her. She was built like Annabeth, her arms and legs were muscular but she was still lean and thin. Her hair was long and a dark blonde. Her eyes were deep brown. She was pretty, i'll admit, but she carried herself like she was constantly ready to flee or fight.

I elbowed Percy when he didn't stop staring. The girl looked at us, her eyes darting between us and her lips tugged in a small smile.

"So what's your name?" She asked.

"Annabeth, this is Percy. What about yours?"

"Kate."

"So Kate, why are you on a train in the middle of the night?" Percy asked earning an elbow to the side from me.

"I could ask you the same thing." She responded leaning back in the seat. "But if you must know, i'm headed to a summer camp, i guess you could call it."

"Little late to be going to a summer camp." Percy said.

"Maybe, but it's the only place i can go. What about you two?"

"We're going home." I told her not giving Percy another chance to slip up. This girl seemed to be able to pull the answers right out of him. Then i realized, she was using Charmspeak. "You're a demigod." I blurted.

Kate's eyes widened. "I don't know what you're- whats a demi- who the hades are you?" She tried to deny my statement but she knew it wouldn't work and she looked scared, her hand over the bracelet with the symbol of a sword. Silver smoke seemed to swirl around her hand and from what happened with her dagger i could make a good guess of what that bracelet was ready to do. I could see Percy felt the same as he drew his pen and his hand grasp the cap ready to draw his sword if this girl attacked. My hand drifted to my pocket where my dagger resided.

"Wait." She stopped and released her bracelet, causing it to hiss angrily and the smoke seeps back into it. She leaned back in her seat and relaxed and laughed to herself.

I looked at Percy and i could see he was just as confused as i was.

Kate started laughing harder at us and i relaxed a little. "Why didn't i realize?" She laughed, "Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase. Well it's about time i meet you two."

We exchanged a confused look and Percy spoke, "You know us?"

"Know you? Ha! I practically grew up with you!" She laughed.

"What do you mean?" I asked her. The question seemed to kill her motivation. She grew silent and took on a grim expression.

"All in good time, daughter of Athena."

Before i could respond the train brakes squealed. Kate became ridged. Her eyes grew wide and she jumped to her feet.

"We have to leave." She said. It was clear she was fighting back panic.

"Why? They're just stopping at the next station." I said.

"The next station is not for another hundred miles and it closes at nine. It's eleven forty five." She said. Just then noise from the car before us sounded above her voice. It didn't sound good. She ran to the back of the car to the door that lead outside. She ripped it open and looked back at us. "Come on." She yelled at us. "Do you want to die here?" She asked when we didn't move. I nudged Percy when her words sunk in and we ran towards her form that disappeared around the back if the train.

We came out on the back railing. "We have to jump." she told us.

"Are you insane? We'll be killed!" I yelled over the wind.

"No. That wont happen." She pointed off the side of the track where the ground fell away to at least a forty foot drop that lead to a lake to which i could not see the bottom. "Let's go."

"No." Percy commanded wrapping his arm around me protectively.

"You're a son of Poseidon. What are you worried about? And either way you are ending up in that water. Usually I'd let you die up here but i don't think Zeus would be too happy if i let the 'Heroes of Olympus' die up here. So either you jump or get pushed your choice." She said waiting for an answer.

Me and Percy exchanged a look and i nodded. We moved to the edge and jumped over the railing beginning the long fall into the water. As we were falling i looked up to see that Kate had her sword out and parried another before jumping after us.
