Madilyn, was pulled from her sleep, by her phone's constant ringing. Lazily, she extended her arm, and grabbed the phone from her nightstand.
"Hello," She croaked out, still half-asleep.
"Where the fuck were you last night?!"
"What are you talking about Amelia?"
"The party?" That woke her up, and she sat up.
"Shit, I forgot. Sorry Em. I...um... the dinner stretched on, and you know how my family gets, whenever uncle Sam comes. I was really tired, and as soon as I hit the bed, i fell asleep. Sorry babe." Yup, not lying at all.
"Nah, it's fine. It was boring, anyways." She heard her friend's disapointment.
"Well, everything is boring, when I'm not there." Madilyn teased.
"Yeah...'', her friend chuckled. " Maya and Nathan were arguing again, then they ended up making out, again."
"So, same old- same old."
"Pretty much. Anyway, gotta go, but we'll talk later, right? Call me?"
"Sure. Bye, Em."
She sighed, and looked at the clook. Nine a.m. Too early. But, she was awake now, so she might as well get some food in her. Last night left her starving.
She descended the stars, and walked into the kitchen, still rubbing the sleep off. She was welcomed with quite a sight.
Adrian was making breakfast, pancakes, by the smell of it, and Zara, along with her mother and Jennifer were at the table, flipping through their old photo albums.
Of course, Madilyn rolled her eyes, as she looked to her right and saw her mother showing Jennifer Adrian's baby pictures, followed by a lot of Aww's, and You're so cure, Adrian! , from Jennifer.
She walked past him, ignoring him, and stood by the sink, pouring herself a glass of water. He looked at her for one second, and spoke firmly. "Go back to your room, and change."
"Excuse me." She looked at him, confused.
"I said, go back to your room and change. You're dressed inappropriately."
He was still fliping the pankaces as he spoke, without even looking at her.
"I'm dressed appropriately, FOR BED." She was wearing her pink pj shorts, that may have been too short, and a white tank top, that might have been a bit see- through.
"Well, you're not in bed, are you?" Still not looking at her.
"I'm at home, Adrian!" She said firmly.
"We have guests, Madilyn. Plus, you're not a kid anymore. Have some manners." He was still looking everywhere, except at her.
"I don't think Jennifer would like to be considered as a guest. Would she?" She snapped back sarcastically.
That made him look at her, but before he could say anything, Jennifer spoke up.
"It's really fine, Adrian, she's at home. I don't mind." She smiled weakly.
"Madilyn, listen to your brother," her mother chipped in, "and get dressed. It's a good morning , and I don't have the patience for your tantrums, today."
She turned her attention back to the 'photo album slideshow' commentary.
Madilyn scoffed and walked off.
