Trouble in Training

Chapter 2

Family; We may not nave it all together, but together we have it all

I was in my room looking at the blank t.v. I could hear Jewels music next door. I knocked on the way and she turned it down.

Than there was a knock on my door. I opened it and seen Sarah. "What can I do for you Sarah?" I asked. "My mom wanted me to let you know that we have some cookies down stairs if you want any" she said. "Oh ok" I said and than closed the door.

My name is EJ Lee Shields. I don't know my father and I've been told that he was in the army. I live with my Aunts and Uncles with their kids.  I don't have any friends and I don't like to talk to anyone.

My life is boring and I usually spend most of my time in my room. I've been told that I look just like my father but the only time I've seen him was in pictures when he was with my mom.

I laid down on my bed and thought about what my dad would look like right now. I decided to get up and walk down stairs. Once I got down stairs I grabbed me a cookie and sat down at the bar.

"Well hello EJ" Aunt Taelor said cheerfully as ever. "Hello, do you need any help with the dishes?" I asked. "I would like that" she said with a warm smile.

I finished my cookie and went to help her. "Can you tell me some more about my father?" I asked. "Well what do you want to know about?" She asked as she putted some cups up. "What was he like."

"Your father was a kind, sweet, loving, and a smart man. He loved your  mother so much" she said. "He was so happy when he heard that your mother was pregnant with you, but now that he's g-" she stopped.

"But now that he's what?" I asked. She looked like she seen something, her face was pail white like snow. "I'm sorry, forget I said anything" she said and than walked off. That was weird, I thought.

I finished the dishes and putting them up. I heard the front door open and it was my mother. "Good afternoon mother" I said. "Hello EJ, it's late don't you think you should be in bed?" She asked.

"What about you mother, you seem to of been out later than you use too" I said. "Well John had me work later that I wished" she said putting her purse on the table.

"When is father going to be coming home from the army?" I asked. Once I said that mother froze in her place. This always happen when I ask about my father. "No time soon" she said through her teeth. "Oh" I said sadly.

"I'm off to bed mother, good night" I said as I kissed her on the cheek. "Yeah night" she said. I walked upstairs to find Jake leaning against the wall. "How long were you standing there?" I asked coldly.

"Enough to hear that you asked about your father again" he said with a smirk. "When are you going to open your eyes and realize that he's not coming home, daddy's boy, oh wait I forgot, you don't even know what your father looks like" he added.

I grabbed him by the shirt and pushed him into the wall. "Don't you ever talk about my side of this family, ever again" I said banging his head against the wall. Than the door opened and Sarah came out.

"EJ that's enough stop!" She yelled. "Mess with me and my family again and I swear to god that you won't see daylight ever again!" I yelled at him. "EJ stop!!" Sarah yelled pulling me off of him. "Awe, where did the big tough guy go" Jake said with a smirk.

I turned around and punched him out cold. Sarah ran down the stairs. Than came back up with my mother. "EJ what on earth happened here?" Mother asked. "Why don't you ask this jerk when he wakes up" I said and went to my room.

I slammed my door and locked it. I went to my bed and laid down. My eyes started to become heavy and than everything went black.
