Missing

chapter 1

Hey guys this is my first story, so I hope you like it :)

My name is Emily; I am a 14 year old girl with what I would call an average life. My parents got divorced when I was 5 because my dad was having an affair with another women and my mum found out. I am an only child. I always wished I had a brother or sister but sadly my parents divorced before they could and my mum hasn't re-married.

I currently live with my mum in a small town. This town may be small but it has a lot of crime, you always hear of people breaking into houses and being killed or something, my mum really wants us to move, but sadly we don't have the money to move yet.

I have one best friend, her name is Ashley and we do everything together. My life used to be boring nothing much would happen until about 6 months ago when children from around the town started going missing.

6 months earlier

It all started out as a nice happy and sunny Saturday morning. It was 10am and it was the first day of the school holidays so I was sitting on the lounge still in my pj's eating some coco-pops and watching TV when Ashley called me. She asked me if I wanted to go to the park, I asked my mum and luckily she said yes because I love the park, we agreed we would meet at the park 11am. So I finished my breakfast, got dressed and walked to the park where I met Ashley.

We had a great time laughing, talking about the most random stuff and playing on the equipment, we definitely weren't acting like the 14 year olds we were, we were acting like we were little kids again, it was the best day I had had in a long time and we didn't care that we were being stared at by nearly everyone there because we were having fun.

We were having fun, when the weather changed, with no warning at all it started to rain. We didn't care because we were having fun, everybody else had left it was just us in the park free to do what we wanted . It started to rain harder, we were soaking wet the water was dripping off us. We started to throw mud balls at each other and before we knew it we were having a mud fight.

At about 4 the rain had eased down a bit but it started to get dark and foggy, we hadn't realised it but somebody was watching us.

I told Ashley we should leave because something didn't feel right my gut was telling me something was wrong but she didn't listen she ran to the other side of the park yelling "see we are fine nothing will happen to....." but before she could finish something happened everything went quiet, all I heard was something that sounded like the park gate closing. "Ashley" I yelled "Ashley stop messing with me" I yelled again, there was no response "Ashley this isn't funny" I screamed. I walked frantically around the park trying to find her but she was gone.....

I know it's short but I decided to leave it at cliffhanger, at least it's my attempt at a cliffhanger! I hope you liked it, please comment and tell me what you think :)

The story itself is short so I don't know how many chapters it will be but they will probably be short as well :)
