Chapter Twelve
Beast
Coming to this cave was a big mistake. There was literally nothing in here. I hoped there might be a passage way or something that would lead to some water, like those caves you see in the movies.
But no. All there was were rocks, rocks and more rocks.
It was starting to get dark and as the night came, the temperature dropped. Well great. If the other werewolves didn't kill me first, the cold would. I sat down on the ground and brought my knees up to my chest. I wondered if Becca had told Ryder about me being pregnant. Knowing here, she was going to tell him anyway and I knew this. I just wanted to be gone first before she did it. That way if he really did care, he would come here and bring me back.
I cheated on him though. I doubted he was coming to get me. Pregnant or not.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breathe, slowly accepting my fate of dying before I heard a high-pitched scream echo through the open space. I quickly jumped up and looked around only to see the outline of a person at the opening of the cave.
“What are you doing here?” The person screamed. Their voice was deep, so I assumed it was a guy but judging from the scream he gave off earlier, I was thinking otherwise.
“What are you doing here?” I repeated and I saw his shoulders drop. I watched him move, hearing some things moving around before the whole area was suddenly filled with light. My eyes widened as I looked around and the string of lights around the caves interior. How in the hell did he get those to work?
“Solar powered.” He answered my question and I turned to find myself staring at a rather young and attractive man. He had sandy-blonde hair that was short in the back, but kept long and straight in the front. It was brushed off to the side, helping to make his bluish-teal eyes stand out. He had a small nose that turned up at the end slightly and his mouth was small, but lips full.
The dirt that covered him and his clothes should make him less attractive, but instead it made him more. I'm guessing he was one of those people.
“Are we gonna stand here and stare at each other or are you going to explain why you're in my home?” He asked, walking over and taking a seat on one of the big rocks.
“Your home? I thought this was abandoned?” I said in disbelief.
“Obviously not.” He said, throwing his hands around as if to say 'this is my home'. I looked around and saw a small mat in the corner with some clothes near it. It was so dark, I couldn't even see that there was stuff in here.
“I'm sorry. I just needed somewhere to go. If I had known you lived here, I wouldn't have come. I'll leave you alone now, sorry for intruding.” I said, bowing slightly to give apologies. I turned to leave when his voice stopped me.
“I can't just let a pregnant women go wander off on her own.” I whirled around and looked at him in utter shock. How in the hell did he know that?
“I know because I can smell it one, and two, I have eyes. You clearly have a baby bump, not matter how hard you try to cover it with that huge ass sweater.”
“You can smell it. What the fuck kind of excuse is that? If you can smell it, then why didn't everyone else?” I snorted. I felt somewhat offended that he said he could 'smell' my pregnancy. How the hell...
