POV - Clary

I walked down the deserted street...alone. Missing my angel in my arms. Ever since the incident with Luke took place, I couldn't stop thinking of how Jace had just stood there, watching every move Sebastian made.

I shouldn't have left Jace alone on the roof. I knew that blaming myself wouldn't help anything, but I couldn't help but let my feelings come rushing to the surface. The regret, sadness, anger, despair. All of it. I had gone out for a walk to clear my head but the result seemed to be the exact opposite.

Tears came trickling down my face as I turned the corner to go back to Magnus'. As I turned onto Magnus' street I saw something shining in the corner of my eye.

I recognized it as the light of a stele as someone burned runes into their skin. I hesitantly walked toward the figure and was shocked to see it was the boy of my thoughts. Jace.

"Clary," he said with the sweetest smile. I turned to look at him when I thought of the best idea ever! I couldn't believe I didn't think of this earlier! "An unbinding rune" , I whispered to myself. As quickly as I could, I grabbed my stele from one of the back pockets in my skinny jeans. "Jace. I need to show you a rune I created. It's a love runs that will keep us together forever, I promise", I told him, trying to hold back my tears. It felt awful lying to him, but I knew it was the right thing to do.

Jace finally agreed to let me mark his arm. The second my stele lifted off his skin, the rune worked its magic. There were red sparks flying out of Jace. After 10 seconds went by, the sparks had vanished and Jace returned to his normal self.

"Clary what just happened?" Jace asked.

"Do you remember anything after you were on the roof at the old apartment building?" I questioned with the most confused face.

"I just remember seeing you up there with me," he said back. I just couldn't take it anymore! I grabbed his neck, bringing him right to my chest. His lips were soft as they usually were. I could feel his heart beating through his shirt, as he brushed his big fingers through my delicate curls. "Let's go home Clary," he told me.

"Okay."

As we walked home he held my hand and whispered "I love you Clary."

I replied back, "I love you too."
