Eye Locks..

10. Silent good-byes

Days rolled by and Sanyukta was successful in avoiding Randhir completing. She could feel Randhir's constant gaze on her during class hours, even Vidushi mentioned that but she was determined this time not to fall for his charm.

She knew this was the time to payback for her parent's efforts and not the time to spoil her life by allowing herself to drown into unwanted distractions like Randhir. She had everything planned for her future, so the only thing that was running on her mind was to top in final exams.

On the other hand, Randhir was still under the impression that Sanyukta was avoiding him because of their kiss. And he didn't had the courage to go and apologise to her for whatever happened..afraid of her outburst.
So he continued to look at her during classhours, like he always used to do. And like every other her antics still made her smile. But deep down he expected her to look into his eyes, just for once so that he could silently apologise to her. But no, she didn't even glance at him, not even once and somewhere it hurted him.

And moreover he had enough tension in his life. Being a cultural president he was stuck with the arrangements of many programs along with the much awaited school day and the send off. And his football and cricket practise sessions dialy were successfull in draining his energy. Amidst all this..his studies was the biggest tension that was eating him up, if it was only passing he could have somehow passed, but his father has put a condition that he should score 70% or more orelse he will not allow Randhir to join dance academy instead will send him to job. Not that he was afraid of his threats, he never really liked his father..he was a grumpy mam. But he loved her mother, more than anyone in this world..more than his first love dancing. And if he scoring 70% can bring a smile on her face, he was ready to work his ass off for that.

Months rolled by and they finally wrote their final exams.

It was their last day at the school, after a lot of hugging, crying and making promises that they will stay in contact and talk daily.. which they also knew they are not gonna keep..All were walking out of school, some holding their best-friend's hands, others putting hands on their friends shoulders.

Walking hand in hand with Vidushi..Sanyukta suddenly turned around and her eyes got latched with Randhir, And amidst all this they shared a eyelock in the middle of the road, maybe their last one. And after months Sanyukta smiled at him silently conveying a good-bye making Randhir immediately look away. 'Why was she smiling at him now, when everything was nearly over' he thought angrily and pretended to talk with his friends.

Sanyukta too turned around, her smile already vanished and look of hurt covering her expression and she walked away in the opposite direction. And as Randhir again slowly glanced ahead of road, searching for her..she was already gone, away from his life.
