TIFFANY
Light. Bright light.
That was the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes weakly. Hospitals should really get dimmer lights above their patients. It's gonna blind someone one day.
I slowly sat up, trying to cope with the shooting pain in my head, the aching of my body, and the completely, and utterly ridiculous amount of pain in my right leg.
Oh shit.
The memories from the party invaded my mind and the throbbing got worse. I let out a groan which was obviously quite loud, as a nurse came in quickly.
She had dark skin, black hair that was tied in a top bun, she was a little on the plump side and she was wearing blue scrubs.
"Hello, dear. I'm Nurse Attah and I'm glad to see you're finally awake." She greeted softly as she walked over and placed her hand on my forehead.
"W-where's Maverick? And Vince?" I asked.
"Who?" Nurse Attah questioned as she stopped fiddling with the machine next to me.
What has she been told? Did they tell her that I was beaten up and had a knife to the leg?
"What happened to me?" I asked, deciding to let her tell me what she knew.
"You're brother and sister brought you in. They said that you'd fallen down the stairs and landed on a nail in the floorboard. Do you not remember?" She questioned, looking worried as she asked the last bit.
"Oh! Yeah, I do, but it just hurts to remember." I lied.
"Oh okay. It will feel like that for a couple more days, but the pain should subside soon." She assured.
"How long was I out for?" I then asked.
"About 38 hours." She replied nonchalantly.
"38 hours?" I gawked.
Was I really out for that long?
Had my letter for college been delivered yet? They're meant to be arriving anytime soon..."Yep. But you should be able to go home either today or tomorrow, depending on how well you can walk." She informed, writing something on her clipboard.
"Okay." I said as I pulled the covers off of me.
"Oh no, not now." She rushed as she placed her hand on my shoulder. "You can try later, it's still early in the morning now."
"What time is it?" I asked as I carefully laid back down, allowing her to re-cover me with the duvet.
"6:49am." She answered whilst straightening the creases on the duvet.
"Oh..." I muttered.
I won't have any visitors this early in the morning then. I guess I'll have to try and go back to sleep to waste time.
"There's a young man in the waiting room for you. Should I let him in?" She asked as she stood up.
"Oh," I gasped. Vince came to see me this early? "Yeah, you can let him in. Thank you." I smiled.
She nodded and then left the room quietly. Not long after she'd left, the door swung open and- and-
Maverick walked in.
Maverick was here? I didn't expect to see him... Where's Vince? Has he come to see me at all?
"Tiffany. Are you okay?" He asked, worry lacing his voice as he walked over to my bed. He pulled the chair next to my bed closer, sat down, placed his elbows on his knees and looked at me attentively.
