People always wonder what its like to be famous. They wonder what its like to have people wanting to be just like you. People wanting to be in your shoes, both literally, and theoretically. And then some people don't have to wonder, like me.
Dan Howell. I've known him for 2 years now. Ever since I moved to this school. Dan Howell has definitely made an impression.
When you're little you're always told that when someone copies you, it means that they like your style in what your doing. And if you complain that they are copying you, you're told its just a compliment.
So, what do you do if someone copies you so much you can barely tell who's who?
Before I moved here dan was his own person, and now I don't even need a mirror when he's around. The first day we meet he told me he liked my hair, and the next day he had a matching haircut. By the next month we had a matching wardrobe.
I would definitely not consider us friends, but everyone seems to think we are. I don't even know how he does it honestly. He shows up everyday in an outfit matching mine, and I never tell him what I'll be wearing.
"Hey Phil!" Dan said as he stepped in speed with me, connecting us at the hip.
"Hey ditto" I sigh. This has been our morning routine for the past 2 years. I gave him the Nickname Ditto after the pokemon that shapeshifts to look like other Pokemon. I thought it was fitting.
Dan was again wearing my outfit and we matched everything from my grey and white trainers, to my fox shirt, to my "emo" hair. One things for sure. Howell takes copying me very seriously.
"So what are our plans for this weekend? I was thinking going too see a movie?" Dan spoke excitedly. This happened every Friday, except he always came up with other wonderful ideas for dates to go on. I almost felt bad turning him down every time, but he's crazy!
"No, Dan. I'll be hanging out with Conner" I sigh and he nods. We stop at my locker and upon opening it I wonder if Dan's looks like mine. I wonder how seriously he takes copying me?
"Oh okay, maybe next weekend?"
"No ditto, not then either."
"Dang it! I was going to take you bowling! Maybe another time." He beamed at me. I couldn't help but assume that he must get the hint that I don't want him. He can't possibly be that dence. He just doesn't give up.
I close my locker and roll my eyes as I walk to my class, which of course, dan has too.
People probably wonder what it'd be like to be famous, and all the gossip would be about you. Its not that great, I would know.
"I heard dan is only out sick if Phil is."
"I bet that Dan spends all his money to match Phil"
"I wonder if Phil is paying him to do that?"
"Why would anyone want to copy him anyways?"
People always talk, judgments are always made. They don't bother me like they used to, but its normal having his copy me everyday. I'm used to it.
I have always, since I was little made it a point to stand out in crowds. And trust me, I know before I came around Howell was one to do anything to fit in.
But this is how it is now. This is normal.
Everyone has a shadow, and they never thing twice about it.
And me? I've always had two.
