A/N
So this first chapter is what I wrote for my writing assignment in school. I probably won't update this often, but if a bunch of people want me to, I can update more seriously. This is the first book I've written so if you are seeing this, I just want to say thanks for reading.

The long lasting, loud call of the eighth period bell, rang for the start of Jacob Ella's last class at Maple High School. Jacob went to the orchestra room but it was locked, so Jake waited with the "YPP", Christopher."Hey man", said Jake.
"Oh, hey. Did you practice last night?" Chris asked.
"No, I was busy. My mom told me to start packing for a trip, so I didn't have anytime".
Mrs.Peters came bursting in, "Sorry I'm late everyone, quickly get your instruments out".
Jacob sat down with his cello and Chris immediately started warm ups. After about ten minutes he went to the band room and started playing the marimba.
Mrs.Peters moved to the front of the room and said, "The reason I have been trying to rush today is the fact that we still have not finished rehearsing for our spring concert. The concert is scheduled for this Friday, June 5th, and we cannot push it back any farther. Today, I am going to let you practice any song on your own or with a friend; at the end of class we will play all three songs we have learned together ".The rest of the day felt just as rushed as the beginning. Jake and Chris practiced in the hallway, and then everyone rehearsed together. After that, Mrs.Peters felt a little more relieved and everyone went home. But that wasn't the calm ending to Jacob's day he normally gets.
"We're moving!", Jacob's mom exclaimed.Jake stared back at his mother with wide, brown eyes in full shock. He wanted to ask if he heard her right, but he couldn't even make a sound.
"Oh stop staring, I tried to warn you last night so it would come as such a scare".He wanted to shout about how that wasn't a warning, and that he thought they were going on a vacation. But the only thing he squeaked out was, "Where are we going?", in a voice almost silent.
"South Carolina!", she answered excitedly.
"South Carolina", Jake repeated to himself.
"Yeah, you know, the same place the school we heard about was", Jacob's mom was bursting with excitement. But Jake still could not wrap his head around moving to a completely different state. He has lived in Connecticut all of his life, and has barely ever left. On the other hand, his mom was moving him there so he could go to the school he has been dying to go to.Jake nodded and said, "I better finish packing then", with no emotion.
"Great, I left some boxes in your room, let me know if you need more" his mom said, a little more calm.
Jacob called all of his friends one by one and told them he was moving. He didn't even have a chance to say a real goodbye to anyone, since Jake was leaving Tuesday afternoon; while everyone is in school and right after he's done packing. Jake almost started to cry after talking to everyone. Almost all of the people he has known all his life were about to disappear.
As soon as Jacob got in the car Tuesday, he knew everything in his old life was going to fall apart. Obviously his friends would be left behind, but there were other changes too. The new school doesn't have a music program, so he won't get to play in orchestra, and he won't be able to see his mother much anymore, because he will be staying in a dorm.
Jacob's mom drove the car all the way from Danbury, CT, to Richmond, VA. Here they stayed in a hotel over night, so they could get on the road again quickly. They checked out of the hotel early in the morning, which left plenty of time to reach their new house. Jake fell asleep in the car for a few hours; his mother woke him up after she parked in the new garage. He grabbed as many bags as he could and walked through the unlocked door. Jacob was excited to see the house was somewhat large, and already had their old furniture inside. He went upstairs and found his bedroom, left the bags, and went back to the car for boxes. By around 5 p.m. everything was in the house and halfway unpacked."The schedule is different at the new school", Jacob's mom said during dinner.
"Different how?", Jake asked.
"Well, it will be starting next week and ending in April next year".
"Oh, okay I guess. I just thought I would have more time to adjust to the town first".
"Sorry, we can go out and see the town a little this week, but then it's straight into school".

"This school is giant" Jake said on his first day.The school was huge, from the outside it looked about 6 stories high, and twice the size of his old High School. Everyone who was trying to get in, was lined up in front of a table where two teachers were handing everyone a book. Jacob gave his mother the biggest hug he could and picked up his bags. He joined the mile long line and waited behind a kid with his hood over his face. After what felt like an hour, but was 20 minutes, Jacob reached the table.
"First and last name please", one teacher asked.
"Jacob Ella", he replied.
She handed Jake a book, an ID, and a key. He walked inside and saw he was in the dorm section. The key had "E26" written on it. Surprising to Jacob, the elevator was open to all students, so Jake pressed the E button and went to find his room. He noticed there was only one bed in the room; this was the same in every other room, no one would need to have a roommate unless they asked to have one. Jake moved passed this detail and started unpacking his clothes; slowly realizing most of it was jeans and sweatshirts.
Later, Jacob looked at the book he was handed. The front and back covers were entirely red. The inside was all blank pages, except for the first page that said, "Jake Cinderella", which confused him, and on the next line in big font, "Storybook High School". He flipped through the pages again and saw something change. There were words appearing on the pages, explaining everything he did since the first day he found out he was moving.
Jake slammed the book shut."What the heck?!", he screamed. Jake started to calm down and peaked into the book. There was a beautiful, elaborate drawing of Jacob, standing in front of his new school. He was still shocked by the book's... magic? No, that can't be right. He thought, there's no such thing as magic... is there?
