Christmas Day

A cold and frosty morning,

children waking up in glee.

Seeing the piles of mysterious presents,

under the christmas tree.

Stale cookies from last night,

with raw, bitten off edges.

Parents assuring Santa was busy,

delivering other children presents.

Anxiety and anticipation,

to what this shiny wrapper may hide.

Mouths opening to some screaming,

the already-big eyes growing wide.

Tearing more wrappers to reveal,

opening boxes to find out,

if the presents given by "santa claus",

are to cheer for to pout.

Delicious christmas breakfast,

that mommy made so well.

With scrambled eggs and toasted breads,

whose names don't ring a bell.

Knock knock, at the door,

now who could that possibly be?

Of course they are the carolers,

collecting christmas donation fees.

Hilarious jokes and toothy smiles,

the welcome and the warmth,

friends and families talking and laughing,

now that's what christmas, is really about.
