Hayes

I woke up with a sleeping Sophie wrapped in my arms and rain droplets spreading over the area of my window. I used my free hand to grab all the hair out of Sophie's face and tucked it behind her ear.

Reaching over to look at my phone I noticed the time was 11:37. I had a few notifications but the most important one was a text from my mom.

from mom: Car tire popped. We're gonna be at a hotel for a little while with Sophie's parents. Sophie and Kimberly are welcome to stay until we come back.

From mom: Oh! Remember there's always a box of condoms in my room.

From mom: not that you will need them but just in case. See you soon ❤️😉

I laughed at my moms text and put my phone down.

"Sophie, baby wake up. It's almost noon." I said in Sophie's ear and began pressing kisses all over her face and neck. She groaned and pulled the duvet farther over her. "Come on baby don't be like that." I said and took the duvet off her. She groaned again and turned around to snuggle into me. She wrapped her arms around my waist and draped one of her legs over mine so she could gain some warmth back. I pulled her onto my lap so she straddled me and gave her a hug, her returning the favour quickly by wrapping her arms around my neck tightly. She wrapped her legs around my torso and locked her feet behind me as I stood up and walked downstairs.

"Sophie come on babe wake up." I said as I placed her on one of the stools by the island.

"I'm awake butthead." She replied rubbing her eyes. "Classy." I replied at her attempt of an insult and grabbed some lucky charms. I poured some into two bowls and gave it plain to Sophie, as she liked her cereal without milk. It was super weird to me but it was a quirk that i was drawn to. I poured some milk in mine and sat beside the half asleep Sophie who was picking at the little marshmallows in her cereal.

"Good morning ladies." I heard from behind us, revealing a shirtless Ryan coming down the stairs with his hair tossed all over the place.

"Good morning Ryan." I replied bitterly, not making eye contact with him.

"How did you sleep Hayes?" He asked me in a fake happy tone.

"Fine" I replied nodding my head.

"How about you Sophie, how did you sleep?" He asked her, causing me to raise one of my eyebrows in confusion.

"Fine." She replied quickly, not looking up from her bowl.

"I bet." He taunted, shooting daggers towards her, finishing with a devilish smirk. Sophie shifted uncomfortably for a second, which made me wonder what it was that Ryan said that made her so uncomfortable.

Am I missing something?

"Anyways..." I said, trying to make small talk. "What are we gonna do today?" I asked.

"Well it's still storming outside so I say we just stay in." Sophie suggested, and me and Ryan nodded in agreement.

Shortly after, a sleepy Kimberly came downstairs wearing shorts that barely fit her, a loose pyjama shirt, and her hair in a messy bun.

"Good morning Hayes." She said, ignoring Ryan and Sophie. "Hi." I replied, plain and simple.

So we all sat there, in awkward silence, eating our cereal, without a word.
