Tuesday he asked to do homework with her at the park. And they happily did that every Tuesday and Thursday. The day he asked a simple question that made Emily, feel like her heart skipped a beat was Thursday. It was a sunny Thursday not a cloud in the sky. Emily and John lied under a tree holding hands. With no bags since they didn't have homework that day. "My mom wants to meat you."
"Oh, so you talk about me now?" Emily looked at him with a playful mad smile.
"I always have!" John had a smile with a slight blush across his cheeks.
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah."
"Okay."
"Okay."
"So what about this little thing, about your mom wanting to meet me?"
"She invited you to dinner Saturday. Do you wanna go? You dont have to if you don't want to." Clearly John was embarrassed from his family.
"I think I can."
"So you want to go?"
"Yeah."
"Okay." As he said that a few clouds moved in. They were the only clouds all day, and were the prettiest clouds this town has seen in a while. They were flat on the bottom and the top was so fluffy it looked like cotton candy. And the clouds had this shading to them that made them look more like a drawing then a real cloud.
My phone vibrated, it was my dad. "I have to go dinner is waiting.""Okay, do you want me to walk you to your house?"
"You can if you want. But we'll have to walk faster than usual." Emily threw her hair over her shoulders as she put on her jacket.
"Okay I'm fine with that. I've been wanting to lose some extra weight."
"You say that like your fat."
"No! I just want a better weight class for football." They stood up and started walking to Emily's house.
"Oh yeah, my little bad boy dose football."
"Why do you call me bad boy?"
"Because your my bad boy."
"You really don't like following the trends do you?"
"What is that supposed to mean?!?"
"Nothing bad it makes you unique. It's just that every girl calls her boyfriend daddy."
"Do you want to be called daddy?"
"I don't know."
"I think you want to."
"What makes you say that?"
"We've been dating for a week or so, and the entire time I've called you my big boy and bad boy. You want a change don't you?"
"Just a little."
"Fine I'll call you daddy for a month if you like it I'll keep calling you daddy. But if not I'll go back to these. And that starts on our one month anniversary. Okay?"
"Okay!" A big grin came across John's face as he grabbed her hand. Minutes later they were at Emily's house. "Okay this is it. See you at school tomorrow." He leaned down and gave Emily a kiss. Then left when she got in the house and waved.
"Who are you waving to sweetness?" Only one person called Emily sweetness and that was her father.
Slowly Emily turned to look at him. "Hey dad. What's up?"
"Who was that Em? And why do you always come in this way instead of the front door? The only reason why you should be going through this door is if your walking the back streets. Why are you walking the back streets? Do you know how dangerous that is?!?"
"Dad calm down its fine!"
"No it's not who was that boy?!? Why was he holding your hand or better yet kissing you?!?! Oh and what about walking you home!!"
Well crap. "He's my friend. It's the thing for guys to hold their friends hand and kiss them on the cheek, and walk them home." Not the best I could have come up with but it works.
"Is it just girls?"
"Yes!!"
"Teenagers are dumb these days. If I find out you lied to me, your grounded. Now go eat!"
That could have gone better. The entire dinner was silent very silent. All you heard was the sound of silverware tapping the perfectly laid out ceramic plates. When I decided to break that silence I got glared at by my father, and I stopped. After I washed the plates and silverware from dinner I ran up the stairs to my room. I opened my laptop and logged on Facebook, and when I was opening the chat for John and I there was a knock on my door. I slammed my laptop shut. "Come in!"
"Hey Em, I wanted to talk to you." It was my step mom.
"Okay come in."
She shut the door. "Who was that guy I'm not going to get mad at you. But you know how your father is, and once he finds out that's not the thing your going to be grounded for a long time. And if I know what's going on I can make that grounding not so long and painful."
"Um, it's my friend."
"Boyfriend?"
"Yeah."
"How long?"
"A weak or so."
"Where have you two been going for the past days when you leave?"
"The park to do homework."
"So you've only been lieing about the fact that he is your boyfriend and not friend?"
"Yeah."
"Okay, listen I can take a long time off knowing that. I'm going to talk to your father about the whole boyfriend thing. You know the rule was no boyfriends until you are sixteen right?"
"Right."
"Okay, so knowing that you know it's going to be a tad hard to change his mind on that but I'll try. If I can't you have to break up with him. Deal?"
There was a long wait until I answered. "Thats not fair though, I love him and he loves me. We should be able to date."
"I know but it just can't happen. If I can't change the rules and you know that." She stood up and left my room.
I opened the conversation. "Hey John."
"Hey beautiful. What's up?"
"I wasn't able to talk to my parents about the dinner this Saturday. But for the way tonight went I'm 90% sure it's a no."
"What happened?"
"Well my dad caught us. And we had a awkward conversation or fight I don't know what you would call it. Then when I tryed to ask he glared at me. After dinner my stepmom talked to me and the rule on 'no boyfriends until sixteen' might change."
"Oh, that sucks but it's also cool because we might be able to date still right?"
"Yeah if my stepmom can change that. But if not you do realize we have to break up."
"Yeah but we can worry about that when it comes."
"Okay I got to go."
"Okay love you."
"Love you too, good night my big boy."
"Why?"
"Because I can't say goodnight at night tonight."
"No not that."
"Um I've always called you my dig boy deal with it."
