The Doctor spent the day at work cleaning his lab and going through all the mess he had left from before. It was boring work but his lab sparkled by the end of the day and was now easy to use and find documents that UNIT kept in his office for safe keeping. He left at around the time Sarah said she would be home and walked into his old ship who lit up, happy to see her pilot.

He drove the ship into Sarah's attic landing smoothly to his delight. Sarah Jane had changed into comfy clothes and grinned hearing the old police box land upstairs. She walked up and smiled as The Doctor opened the door and happily sighed.

"My love how was your first day?" Sarah asked as he bent down and kissed her.

"Uhm, good. I did a lot of cleaning and organizing. " he explained happily not wanting to disappoint her with how boring it really was. Sarah Jane smiled enjoying him holding her.

"That's good, I was going to make chicken for dinner if you didn't mind." Sarah said looking up at him, her chin still on his chest. He smiled and stroked her soft cheek under her warm eyes that looked at him like he was everything in the world.

"That sounds wonderful, my clothes are all dirty from cleaning let me change and I'll be right down to help." He said gently feeling his hearts melt for her.

"Okay..." Sarah said letting go of him with a smile. The Doctor trotted upstairs and into their room and out on a soft t shirt and worn jeans and headed back down to the kitchen. He set the table and got out the pitcher of water for the two of them as the savory scent of chicken filled the house. They moved together, ever in sync and complimenting each other; The Doctor reaching up high for the glasses and Sarah Jane climbing into the cupboard below to pull out the baking pan. A half an hour passed of them working when the dinner was done cooking and came out looking beautiful from the oven.

"Wow, it looks so good Sarah. I didn't know you were a five star cook as well." He said sitting down, across from her. Sarah blushed and giggled.

"Oh stop, you're too much. I figured you needed a good meal, the TARDIS was worried because you hadn't been eating regularly as often as you should." Sarah said taking another bite of the dish she had made. The flavors had melded beautifully and she moaned softly as it melted in her mouth.

"This is so good too...I could die now perfectly peacefully without any regrets." The Doctor praised to her making her roll her eyes.

"You're such a drama queen, calm down your making me worried that you'll choke." Sarah giggled holding his hand. The Doctor giggled back with her and held her hand in his. He was surprisingly warmer and happy, his eyes twinkling back into hers making her melt in his stare.

They talked about work and the plans for the week; groceries and mailing out bills and the article The Doctor promised to read over once before she submitted it to the editor. They grew full and stopped luckily the dish only being half eaten and perfect for left overs for the next day. They then started dishes, Sarah washing and The Doctor drying and putting them away.

"Would you be upset if we stayed here this weekend instead of going to the beach? I saw an ad for a fall festival and it seemed like fun and there's caramel apples and the whole thing instead of doing summer things." The Doctor asked taking the dish from her gloved hands and drying it as gently.

"A date then?" Sarah asked leaning her head on his arm.

"Uh, yeah I think so. Does the terminology change at all when people are living together? Some cultures are different but this really doesn't exist anymore on Gallifrey to be perfectly honest. The dating part that is." Sarah smiled up at him.

"It can be either, a date or something fun to do. It doesn't have to be formal Doctor, this won't be included in the final exam." Sarah teased lightheartedly.

"Hmm, okay...I think..." The Doctor said, his brain processing what she had said. Sarah simply smiled and finished washing this dishes, he was still quite confused about human life but it was something Sarah loved most about him.
