Authors Note: Here we see more of The Doctor and his little cute habits and a run in with two elderly ladies who are a little too excited to see a young man walk into their shop looking for flowers to woo his love. Pure sweet fluff.

The next day passed quickly as The Doctor was getting used to the groove of things back on earth and at UNIT. When he walked in his first paycheck was on his desk in an envelope addressed to him. The Doctor opened it carefully and studied it, feeling a sense of pride of being able to help support himself and Sarah Jane. They were to meet back home at five thirty for a date and go to the festival together on Saturday.

He got to work, in the back of his mind wondering what he could buy his Sarah Jane with some of his new money. Women, especially humans seemed to be difficult sometimes with this sort of thing from his observations. Timeladies often needed to be practically worshipped before they would consider themselves to be partners with another simple Timelord. Of course he didn't want her to feel stupid or patronize her either.

At around lunch time there was a soft knock at the door and The Brigadier entered.

"Hello there. How are you Brigadier?" The Doctor asked with a smile looking up from the control panel he was rewiring by hand.

"I'm good. You got you're paycheck and figured it out?" The Brigadier asked leaning on his desk. The Doctor showed him the envelope.

"I think so. Sarah said she was going to look over it when I got home though, just in case. I have trouble with the intense human lawyer stuff. Much better at wires." He said continuing his task at hand. The Brigadier smiled.

"Good, how are you two doing lately? You're not driving her too crazy are you. I can't have our favorite whistleblower angry at one of our scientists." He joked with a chuckle. The Doctor remembered his question and decided to speak up.

"Good but er...I have a date with her tonight but I don't know what to get her. I don't really know the earth way of doing things." He admitted scratching his head and pulling the curls out of his face. The Brigadier smiled, it was very cute he was trying so hard to impress her.

"Well, what do Timeladies like? What would you do for Sarah if she was a Timelady?" He asked taking a seat next to him. The Doctor thought to himself a moment.

"Uh, probably show her a few good academic papers and take her to a seminar on something she was interested in." He said remembering his youth trying to impress the girls at the academy. He hadn't done well with many boys or girls but he wasn't ever lonely for too long.

"Well maybe not that but, like do you Timelords give each other chocolates or er flowers?" The Brigadier suggested with a shrug. Flowers could work I could buy a potted plant for her to bloom all season and be as pretty as her. The Doctor thought to himself. He felt better and smiled at his boss.

"Thank you, I think I will get her flowers in a pot so they don't die and keep blooming." He said, his mind made up. The Brigadier smiled and made a mental note to invite the couple for dinner sometime with his wife.

"Alright, well I hope you two have fun tonight. If you need anything I'll be in the barracks with some of the boys for training. " the Brigadier said with a smile.

"Alright thank you." The Doctor said as he left. He wrote himself a note and went back to working hard so he could leave early and buy his Sarah Jane flowers.

Two thirty pm hit quickly prompting The Doctor to clean up and head out to the cute little floral shop down the road. He deposited the check and took out cash before heading inside the tiny shop.

"Hello young man, can we help you with anything?" One of the elderly ladies at the desk asked him as he glanced at the dozens of flowers and baskets around the room.

"Um, well I wanted to pick up flowers for my girlfriend? I would like them potted though so they wouldn't die and wilt after a few days. " he asked focusing again on the two tiny ladies working the front desk.

"Well, what a gentlemen you certainly are!" The other elderly lady said patting his hand while the other went into the back of the shop to pull the selections.

"Oh, thank you. I'm trying my best I suppose." He blushed not sure why the one woman was now rubbing his arm oddly and glanced again at the flowers around him. The first woman came back with three different pots of flower arrangements and set them down.

"Have you two lovebirds been together long?" She asked scribbling down something in the notebook next to her while the other continued to hold his hand lovingly.

"Yes, well first as friends but now we are living together and I was taking her out tonight so I thought this would be nice I just don't know what kind. They all are beautiful." He said truly confused and overwhelmed with all the colors and smells from the foliage surrounding him.

"Oh, then you should definitely do roses! No girl can resist the gift of roses from a handsome young man like yourself. Here let me get you the plant food it comes with" the woman said letting go of his hand and walking to the back room again.

"Thank you very much. I think she will like them a lot." The Doctor said with a smile.

"Well, you're lucky because we got a sale for 40% off the entire store as well!" The elderly woman by the register said ringing him up. He paid and put the change in his pocket before taking the blooming rose bush from the other lady saying goodbye.

He placed the flowers in the trunk and drove home, the bubbly nervous feeling starting up again in his stomach. Would she like them? Would she be mad he even spent them on her? His mind wandered until he pulled into the driveway. Sarah's car was parked next to his and he felt bad, hoping she wasn't waiting too long for him.

He turned off the car and grabbed his bag and coat and crossed the small lawn and headed into the house hoping to the stars this would go right.
