Chapter 18:

Cassandra and Rosa entered their house with their shopping bags. Darien entered the living room from the kitchen and got one heck of a surprised.

Darien:Did you two buy the hole mall?

Rosa:Maybe...

Cassandra:We only bought our Halloween costumes.

Darien:But isn't halloween next month?

Cassandra:Yah, but there's nothing wrong with planning ahead.

Darien:So what did the both of you get?

Rosa:I'm gonna be a candy corn.

She reached into a bag and pulled out a candy corn shaped hat, and placed it on her head. Darien smiled and said:

Cute... Cassandra...?

Cassandra turned red as she tried to hide her bags behind her back.

Cassandra:Uh... I'm not gonna say...

Rosa giggled as Darien looked at her a little puzzled. Suddenly there was a knock at the door.

Darien:I'll get it...

He walked towards the door as Cassandra sighed.

Rosa:Why didn't you show him your costume?

Cassandra:Because... I'm just a little embarrassed...

Rosa:I'm sure he'll think you'd look beautiful in it Cassandra. After all he loves you.

Darien:Cassandra... You got a letter.

Cassandra turned around and saw Darien holding a deep blue envelop in his hand. She walked over and took the letter. There was no return address. Cassandra opened it and pulled out the letter. It read:

You will soon be mine... And he will be dead.

Cassandra gasped as she dropped the letter.

Darien:What's wrong?

Rosa walked over and picked up the letter, and gasped too.

Rosa:Darien, they know were Cassandra is... Look...

She handed Darien the letter and she tried to calm down Cassandra who was leaning against the wall behind her for Support.

Darien:This isn't good... We need to call your brother.

He picked up the phone and entered the kitchen. Rosa lured Cassandra to the couch as Darien waited as the phone rang.

Darien:Pick up... Pick up...

A Voice:Hello..?

Darien:Zane...

Zane:Oh... It's you...

Darien:Nice to hear from you too... Listen, Cassandra is in danger, just a few minutes ago she received a threatening letter.

Zane:What!?...

Darien waited for a bit, he could hear James' voice in the background and what sounded like three other men.

Zane:Ok, we'll be over in a bit.

Darien hung up and stared at the letter in his hand. His eyes turned red as he crumpled it in frustration. He calmed himself and then returned into the living room. Cassandra was staring down at her lap, the bags were all missing and Rosa was nowhere to be seen. He fingered she went upstairs to leave the bags in their rooms. Darien walked over to the couch and sat down next to her. He took her into his arms and said:

It's going to be alright, your brother is on his way.

Cassandra buried her face into his chest. She tried to forget everything. Suddenly she remembered that guy she meet at the mall today, Andrew. She pulled away a little and stared up at Darien.
