Gold and Blood

Drowning

Darkness and the smell of blood slapped me in the face as I opened the doors. The laughter and growls were even louder as my eyes adjusted. I could feel the new hunger start to emerge." Move outta the way!" A gruff male voice hissed, I was about to retort back when a body was thrown onto me. " What the HE-", I screamed as I was crushed by this bulky body. Something snapped in me and I dug my nails through his jacket and  skin and threw him away. Heads snapped to me as I stood and glared at them as some continued to bicker.

" Haha, that's what you get for falling on a newborn!"

" Let me at the Son of a-."

" Language! Let us be civilized and stop this bickering?"

" Who was asking you!"

" Silence."

Those arguing stopped and turned to a lounging Kai whose eyes were glued to me assessing. I flashed my fangs by some new primal instinct. He grinned, " Glad of you to join us." He gestured to the people littering the room, including the person I threw that ended up through the wall. " What do you want?" My voice was harsh as I stalked forward. My stomach flipped as I could scent the blood much stronger now that I was closer to him. "Now is that any way to treat your leader?" His tone became playful and somewhat stern. I scoffed, " If I showed you how I want to treat you, your little lackeys would kill me," I crossed my arms with a evil look.

" I wasn't expecting less from the likes of you," Kai kept his expression haughty. " Normally for a human to be turned the vampire must ask me and we consult the human however.." He trailed off his gaze darkening. " Zachary decided not to do any of that and before death meet him he decided," his piercing green eyes meet mine. " You would be fit for this life."

I burst out laughing, something that sounded cold and full of rage. " How would he know? How would he have known anything! That was the first time I ever saw him!" I took a sharp intake and stared him down. The others in the room had tensed sensing my ill intentions toward Kai.

He casually took a sip from a wine glass that mysteriously appeared in his hand. So that's where the smell was coming from... " Before we can turn someone when biting we see their lives." He stood up and approached me smoothly. " Humans may consider this as their life flashing before their eyes," he tilted my chin up. " I wonder what he saw in you.." I resisted the urge to rip his hand off, Whoa Renee when did you become so violent?  I forced myself to smile sweetly and he raised a brow, " Maybe he saw my life as intriguing and full of twists and turns." His husky breath filled my senses and I pulled away from him. His hand fell limp at his side with an unreadable expression then his head snapped to me as I let out a gasp. The blood so close was becoming unbearable.

I turned away and felt my voice crack, " I should leave." Everything in my instincts were telling me to drink that blood, I was slowly loosing whatever self control I achieved while in here. Pearl walked behind a vampire in the room noticing my change of demeanor. " Just take it." An unknown voice called behind me, the others in the room making sounds of agreement. Kai snapped his fingers and the wine glass flew elegantly into his open hand and offered it to me. " It's better to succumb rather than fight it, trust me." 

My fangs pierced my bottom lip, " Where's the strength in that?" I hurriedly turned feeling something trying to take over my being. He laughed low, " It will save you the pain, it will-." I interrupted him with a yell of frustration, " Shut up shut up shut up!" I took off running from the room bursting through the doors and down the dark hall to who knows where. 

I can't do this.. 

I'm drowning in this new desire..

Blood... Blood is all that matters.

I died in this and now I fear..

I can't ever swim back.
