Feel free to listen and replay as you read! I had planned to have "If I believe You" by The 1975 but there were no studio videos I could attach :(
Antichrist -The 1975
I pretended I was asleep when Harry came up hours later. He didn't say anything though I could feel his eyes burning holes in my skin, something I don't think i'll ever become accustomed to.
He was wordless as shuffling could be heard around the room before I finally felt the bed dip down and a large exhale from behind me. I was facing away from him, my hair sprawled across the rest of the pillow as I separated myself from his presence.
I almost flinched when a hand began twirling my hair the slightest bit. I imagined Harry, lying next to me with his hand entangled in my brown locks and peering at the back of my head. Maybe he even regret sending me to bed, hoping that when he came up, I was still awake and we could talk.
But that would never happen because Harry isn't like that. Even I knew that much.
So, with another glance to the outside window, I shut my eyes, finally willing to let sleep come over me.
*
My familiar ringtone blared from somewhere in the room as I came to my senses from the deep sleep. I let out a small groan and threw the warm covers off my body to retrieve the ringing device.
My mother.
"Hello?" I grumbled into the other line.
"Adeline! I haven't heard your voice in a while." She beamed as I imagined her pout on the last sentence.
I smiled slightly, looking around the room to see it was empty and the blankets and pillows on Harry's side of the bed were made. As if I had a side of the bed. The sun shone threw the white curtains as the branch of the white oak rested against the outside glass.
"Its only been just over a day, mother. I would've thought you'd been jumping for joy." I chuckled, as did she.
"Oh stop, you know you're my everything." My heart stiffened. She said it, I was her everything and I was lying to her. The biggest lie I could ever keep from her when she doesn't hesitate to tell me everything, even when she knows I'm not listening.
"Now tell me all about camp!" She urged.I swallowed the rising lump in my throat. "O-oh! Well, actually, we were just about to go down to breakfast so I don't think I can talk right now. Sorry, mom! I'll tell you everything tonight!" I pushed the end of the conversation quickly as we said quick goodbyes. She said she loved me and I didn't say it, rather hanging up the phone with guilt laced on my forehead.
I sighed, looking down at my unchecked phone to see a text.
From: (***) ***-****: Hi Adeline, its lucas :)
Yesterday 9:38pmI stared at the notification on my screen for a short while. Harry would actually kill me if he found out I'd been communicating with Lucas but it really isn't any of his business what's on my phone. I decide to send a simple hi back, explaining I was sorry I didn't get his message and that my phone was off last night. I threw my phone back in my bag and went towards the door.
It was dead silent throughout the house and I wanted to call for Harry but shouting daddy in massive house would surely leave my cheeks red with embarrassment, something he'd love to see. I would look for him myself.
It was a bit chilly in the house and since it was only morning. The cold marble floor startled my feet as I strolled soundlessly throughout the hallway from Harry's bedroom, into the stairwell- on looking the foyer- and across into the hallway of rooms where Harry had taken me yesterday. He taught me how to play piano.
